An Unforgettable Summer Outing in Stowe

Lion’s Law’s staff and family members enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Stowe, Vermont - the most classic and elegant New England town. We kicked off the outing with a tour and a taste of creamy ice-creams at Ben & Jerry’s. After checking in at the picturesque Trapp Family Lodge, we soaked in the pool before indulging with the mouth drooling ribs, beef, and chicken at Shakedown Street BBQ & Grill.

The next morning, Abortrek Adventures welcomed a team of courageous lawyers and staff. Lion’s lawyers were as brave on the treetops and fierce on the ziplines as they are in the courtrooms. Having descended from the soaring ziplines, we boarded Spirt of Ethan Allen. The spacious boat went on for a relaxed cruise on Lake Champlain, a natural fresh water that lies between the State of New York and Vermont and has a fascinating long history.

Back to the lodge, Sam Von Trapp, grandson of Marie Von Trapp, the music teacher starred by Julie Andrews in the movie Sound of Music, led an unforgettable tour at Von Trapp Brewery. Our tour ended with a scrumptious dinner at the brewery’s Bierhall, where we enjoyed classic Austrian dishes and several award-winning Von Trapp beers!

WE WORK AS A TEAM

& HANG OUT LIKE A FAMILY

We wrapped up the trip Sunday morning - some went for a history tour that revealed the amazing life of three generations of Von Trapp family, some hiked with goats gazing and wandering on the lawn, and some got a soothing massage or a clam jacuzzi hot tub.

WINS IN THE COURT

Our office received a favorable court ruling, allowing our defendant client a daycare to successfully add plaintiff and her husband as third-party defendants to a case. The plaintiff, a former employee of the daycare, sued the daycare for owing wages. We discovered that the plaintiff and her husband were the decision makers of the daycare’s human resources during the relevant period. We requested the court to agree with us that plaintiff and her husband should be added as new defendants and potentially responsible for plaintiff’s unpaid wage, not the daycare. The Court permitted the addition.

We represent a defendant, a travel agency, who was sued by a bank for failure to pay mortgages for the buses it purchased. We filed counterclaims against the bank for failure to transfer titles of the buses to our client and breach of their duty to mitigate damages. The bank requested the court to dismiss some of our counterclaims. We argued that the bank merely provided an alternative interpretation of the contract language without providing sufficient factual evidence. The court ruled in favor of our client and denied the bank’s request to dismiss our counterclaims.
