MPBID 5th Annual Meeting of membership

It is again the time of the year when MPBID members come together to celebrate the work of the BID, review previous year's results and elect a new slate for the Board of Directors, put forward by the MPBID Board Nominating Committee. This year our Annual Meeting will take place on Tuesday November 28, 11am as a hybrid meeting.

Participation is available either on zoom - see information on the MPBID website here; and/or in person (limited-capacity, registration required at Eventbrite here) at Addeo's of Morris Park at 1056 Morris Park Avenue, 11am-12pm. Only MPBID registered members are eligible to vote for the Board of Directors slate. MPBID members that did not register in prior years are welcome to do so by filling the form available here and submitting it to ed.morrisparkbid@gmail.com before November 17, 2023 (Date of Record). We thank all businesses and community members for the ongoing support for the work of the Morris Park BID. Full information and the Annual Meeting documents are available on the MPBID website here.

Commercial corridor beautification on Morris Park Avenue

The transition to the fall plantings part of the MPBID beautification program on #MorrisPark Avenue is now complete - with beautiful mums, kale, cabbage and pansies. Thank you to our partners at @thehort and to all residents appreciating and maintaining cleanliness of tree pits and planters part of the MPBID beautification and horticulture program!

Enforcement actions against illegal smoke shops

Successful enforcement actions against illegal cannabis and tobacco products sellers! MPBID thanks the NYC Sheriff's Office for inspections in the NY 80th Assembly District represented by NYS Assembly Member John Zaccaro Jr - including 1048 #MorrisPark Ave/Smoke Shop & Convenience Inc. - found to be in violation of the law. One individual was arrested and charged with the following: Criminal Possession of Cannabis in the Third Degree; Possession or Sale of Unstamped or Unlawfully Stamped Cigarettes; Sale of Cannabis with Liquor License. We look forward to continue working with law enforcement and all our elected representatives for keeping the Morris Park Avenue commercial corridor safe for the community.

Reminder: foliage cleaning around catchment basins

Property owners: Please remember to clean up fallen leaves covering street catchment basins - to ensure maximum water drainage capacity during rain events - thank you!

Metro North Penn Station Access project

Our thanks to the teams of NYC Planning, and MTA for hosting on October 26, 2023 a workshop on the forthcoming Metro North "Morris Park" station. We hope that the expected station will enhance community connectivity and workforce access to new jobs and opportunities! Excited to anticipate the future "Morris Park Plaza” as a welcoming, new public space and entrance into the commercial corridor! Community input invited by filling the survey here. More information about the project is available here.

Reimagining the Cross Bronx Expressway Project

MPBID thanks to the teams of NYC Department of Planning, NYC DOT and NY State DOT, and especially to Loving The Bronx, for cohosting the #reimaginethecrossbronx tour from Parkchester to West Farms on November 4, 2023. So many opportunities for improvement on sanitation, sidewalk conditions, accessibility and connections to green spaces like the Bronx River and Starlight Park! Transportation infrastructure and public health are connected. For a greener, healthier #Bronx we encourage everyone to fill the survey HERE
