Preparing for

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Saturday, September 30th

The ongoing humanitarian support True North Aid commits to

is a direct result of the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada. Its impacts have resulted in significant socioeconomic inequities experienced by Indigenous communities across our country today.

As we prepare for this Saturday, September 30th, our organization recommits to truth and reconciliation by supporting Indigenous self-determination through Indigenous-led community projects and practical humanitarian support.

On this third anniversary of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite you to support residential school survivors, their families and communities who are impacted by the legacy of residential schools by

contributing to the good work True North Aid dedicates itself to.

Attend Our Reconciliation Walks

In our effort to support National Day For Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th (also Orange Shirt Day), True North Aid's Reconciliation Walk provides non-Indigenous Canadians with an opportunity to learn about the timeline of Canada’s residential school legacy through an interactive, self-guided experience on a wooded trail in Kingston, Waterloo and Toronto.

Further, the Reconciliation Walk hopes to instill an urgency for change and action in moving forward together in justice and solidarity.

“Together, Canadians must do more than just talk about reconciliation; we must learn how to practise reconciliation in our everyday lives—within ourselves and our families, and in our communities, governments, places of worship, schools, and workplaces. To do so constructively, Canadians must remain committed to the ongoing work of establishing and maintaining respectful relationships.”
