Dear Prayer Partners,

Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be broken! That camp motto has been part of RFK since the creation of this camp back in 1999. And counselors, staff and campers lived it all day today. Weather created opportunities to do just that. Be flexible. Things might not happen in the way it was planned, but we sure can control our attitude about it. Birthday party happened without jump houses because it was too muddy. The snow cone vendor arrived later than expected because of a flat tire. Then once they arrived, we had to reroute them because the place they normally set up during the birthday party was a mud pit because of the rain.

But there was a rock climbing wall. Balloons, popcorn, face painting, snow cones and music were also there. Smiling happy faces and gratitude for an outdoor birthday party that got to happen, because God provided a break in the rain. Thank you prayer warriors!

We lived out Mark 11:24 today. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Here's a quick story from our scribe:

This year's theme is "The Jungle". Counselors brainstorm for room decorations to coordinate with the theme. For one dorm room of three counselors, a small plush pink flamingo toy was found with the intent of decorating in the room. Instead of it being used as a room decoration, an idea of 'The Flamingo Award' was created. The Flamingo Award that intended to be awarded to a camper in that room who did someone positive, courageous or kind. The first award winner was someone who showed persistence and determination in learning how to swim so she could pass her swim test. She spent the whole first day swimming time (1 and 1/2 hours) practicing and the next day she passed her swim test. That recipient got to carry around the flamingo and get to be aware and decide who was going to be the next award recipient. This morning at breakfast, she made an announcement and awarded and passed the flamingo to the next recipient for showing kindness and encouragement with other campers. The emphasis in the Bible story, 'God can help me make choices' rang true today.

Blessings,

Darren
