Road Resurfacing Update

The 2023 Road Resurfacing project is quickly coming to a close, with 75% of the project being complete! This year's road project covers 1.2 miles of Village streets, including Constitution Drive, Constitution Court, Gettysburg Court, Providence Lane, Springhill Lane, Mallard Drive, and Munn Road. Work on these roadways included removing and replacing the curb and sidewalk, adjusting storm sewers, removing the road asphalt, and performing restorations. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September, with the first layer of asphalt (binder) being placed beginning September 12th. The final lift of asphalt will be placed the week of September 18th. We appreciate your patience and understanding as construction wraps up.

Public Works Reminder: Pool Drainage

With summer coming to a close, homeowners with swimming pools will begin preparing their pools for winter. Along with the Illinois EPA, the Lindenhurst Public Works Department would like to remind residents not to drain their pools to the street and/or the storm sewers. Discharging chlorinated water from swimming pools has an adverse impact on our local water quality and wildlife. Appropriate preparations should be made before draining a pool during the winterizing process. It is recommended to follow one of the following measures:

  1. De-chlorinate the water in the pool before draining. This can be done through mechanical or chemical means. These types of products are readily available at local stores.
  2. Drain the pool over a period of several days across your lawn. This option requires the pool water to sit for at least 2 days while receiving a reasonable amount of sunlight and without further addition of chlorine or bromine. It is recommended that the chlorine levels be tested after 2 days to ensure that safe levels (below 0.1 mg/l) are met. Pool discharges should be directed across your lawn, not down your driveway or into nearby storm sewer inlets.
