In his talk, Mike Buresh, Chief Meteorologist for Action News Jax, shared insights into his career, personal life, and passion for weather forecasting. He emphasized the importance of preparing for extreme weather events, highlighting past experiences with hurricanes and solar eclipses.


Buresh discussed the unpredictability of weather patterns, the significance of accurate forecasting models, and the role of AI in meteorology. He touched on the impact of La Niña and warm ocean waters on hurricane activity, offering tips on storm preparation and the use of social media for reliable weather updates.


He also addressed the phenomenon of fewer freezes in Jacksonville and the increasing occurrence of 80-degree days, urging the audience to stay informed about climate-related changes.
