Updated COVID vaccine is now available at:
-
Advocate Health Care: We’re administering the updated Moderna COVID vaccine to patients 6 months and older at our Medical Group clinics upon patient request and as a routine vaccination during a visit. Effective Monday, Oct. 30, COVID vaccines may be scheduled through a Medical Group primary care physician, advanced practice clinician or retail pharmacy. The former flu/COVID hotline (866-443-2584) will only offer scheduling for flu vaccines this year.
-
At retail pharmacies: Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinois (BCBS) will temporarily allow HMO Plan members to use Walgreens or other participating pharmacies without need for HMO Referral and BCBS will directly pay the pharmacy. This temporary coverage was granted due to supply chain demands not met by COVID vaccine availability in primary care offices. Learn more.
Telehealth: Extension of relaxed rules on prescribing controlled substances: The flexibility on prescribing controlled substances during the COVID Public Health Emergency has been extended through Dec. 31, 2024. Controlled substances are still able to be prescribed via telehealth at this time. Learn more.
New expanded access guidance for investigational drugs and devices: There is now official guidance around expanded access for compassionate use of investigational drugs and devices. Patients with serious or life-threatening conditions who have exhausted other treatment options and are not eligible or able to participate in a clinical trial may qualify to gain access to these investigational new drugs or devices.
Evaluating minimally invasive heart devices: A clinical trial aims to optimize future catheter-based treatment and health outcomes by evaluating a group of devices used to treat high-risk people with complex coronary heart disease. Thomas Levin, MD, leads the study at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Learn more.
Duo phone call-in option retiring Nov. 14: The Duo phone call-in option will be removed for the Midwest region. Duo Verified Push will be the only two-factor authentication tool moving forward.
