House of Delegates

House of Delegate (HOD) – August Updates

Thank you to everyone who completed the HOD student enrollment survey. The HOD had over 1,600 people participate. During the HOD meeting this month we focused on three questions based on high level review of the data to help shape the direction the HOD will move:

1. We are already seeing difficulties in hiring RDNs in various settings. With the drop in student enrollment in recent years the RDN shortage will only worsen. How can we reimagine the profession and the role of the RDN in healthcare to attract more individuals?

2. In the survey many individuals reported they either knew of colleagues who left the profession and/or they have considered leaving the profession themselves. What should employers consider to retain employees?

3. Many educators indicated their program is looking for faculty. What would attract more RDNs to consider becoming an educator?

If you have feedback or thoughts, feel free to contact IAND Delegate Samantha Schaefer at [email protected]

IAND Town Hall Survey - Response Requested

IAND began hosting member town hall meetings last year. The reasoning behind these was to:

1. Increase member interaction rather than just at the annual meeting

2. Provide members direct access to IAND board

3. Discuss hot topics directly with members

4. Opportunity to receive member feedback or answer questions.

We are determining if there is interest to proceed with IAND Town Hall meetings in 2023-2024. Please take this quick, anonymous survey to let us know your thoughts. Reply by Oct 13th. Complete the survey by clicking the button below.

President's Message

Happy FNCE® Season!

If you are attending FNCE® this year in Colorado, we will plan to meet after the opening session on Saturday by the FNCE® signs to take a group picture. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Keep an eye out for emails requesting nominations to serve on the IAND board. If you (or you know a friend that would match perfectly) would like to serve alongside statewide nutrition leaders, we would love to see your nominations.

IAND would like to highlight our Hoosier members in our newsletter and social media. Each month we will spotlight a different member. To place your name (or a friend) on the docket, complete this quick survey. We know all of our Hoosier members are working hard providing great services to their community members - so let’s see them!

Follow and tag us on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram to share the work you are doing in your community. We would love to see your pictures! This is a great space to learn of upcoming CEUs, networking events, and important updates within our profession.

Stay happy and healthy,

Tarrah Westercamp, MS, RDN, SNS
