2023 Scholarship & Research Day!

Join the Provost’s Office and University Library to celebrate the scholarly works and achievements of Colorado State University Pueblo faculty and staff from 2022. We are proud of the accomplishments of our faculty and want to continue honoring your achievements during our annual Scholars Reception. This event will occur in the LINC on Thursday, November 9.

STRATA sessions for faculty: 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the LINC.

STEM Research Symposium: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Ballroom.

Scholars Reception: 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the LINC.

This year’s keynote speaker for the Scholars Reception is Dr. Heidi Reynolds-Stenson, CSU Pueblo's recipient of the award for Excellence in Scholarship.

This event is open to all faculty, adjunct faculty, lecturers, instructors, staff, and to the public. We look forward to seeing you!

Veteran's Week

On behalf of the Military & Veteran Success Center

In celebration of Veterans Day, the MVSC is hosting several events during the week of November 6th through 10th.

Stop by the MVSC to grab a snack and to enter the Veterans Day Raffle to win some CSU Pueblo swag!

Thursday Nov 9th, the MVSC invites all veterans to have lunch in the Pack Cafe on us! Meal vouchers can be picked up in the MVSC.

Friday Nov 10th, the MVSC invites all of campus and the community to the Southeast Asia Memorial for the Veterans Day Ceremony. The ceremony will start at 10am with a reception to follow. 

Join us on Saturday in downtown Pueblo for the Veterans Day Bash! Events start at 10am with a parade followed by a ceremony at noon.

The CSU Pueblo Athletics Department is offering free admission to all Veterans and their families to the football game on Saturday Nov 11th. There is a limit of 4 tickets. Contact the MVSC to reserve your tickets.

Celebrate the Life of Professor Janet Nichols

On behalf of Operations & Advancement

In September 2023, CSU Pueblo lost a stalwart member of our community. Professor Janet Nichols (Mathematics) passed away at her home in Canon City, surrounded in love with her children, Gina and Dan, after a turbulent battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

CSU Pueblo President, Timothy Mottet, shared the following: “With the passing of Dr. Janet Nichols, we have lost a great friend, colleague, and incredible educator. Across four decades, Dr. Nichols helped students understand and appreciate mathematics and life. Janet has been the constant on a campus full of change. She kept us grounded, and I know it’s going to take some time to find our footing again.”

A celebration of life will be held on “Math Day,” November 16, 2023, at CSU Pueblo’s Hoag Hall from 3:30-4:30pm, with a reception in the Hoag Hall lobby to follow from 4:30-5:30pm.

Losing any member of the Pack is always difficult. NEW: An Introduction to CSU Pueblo’s Indigenous Land Acknowledgement

On behalf of Title V and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Share a traditional Indigenous meal with campus community as we engage in a professional development opportunity to support the establishment of the CSU Pueblo Land Acknowledgement. Join us in a safe space to provide input, share knowledge of the stewards of this land, and in honoring traditional practices. The development of a land acknowledgement is not the final outcome of our efforts to support our Indigenous community, rather it is a discussion of the future while honoring the past. 

The opening ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. CSU Pueblo is honored to create space for the Indigenous stewards from our community to participate. If you would like to support us in building community by participating in the opening ceremony, please indicate your participation using the RSVP link provided. 

Discussion begins at 5:30 and the official CSU Pueblo Land Acknowledgement will be shared at 6 p.m. Please RSVP to support the organizers in planning accordingly.

Free Meditation Space

Looking for some peace & quiet? Need a space to calm your mind? There is a brand new, free meditation space on campus in CIHHI building, room 294. The space is free for students, staff, and faculty to enjoy weekdays between 8am and 5pm. Sign up sheet is located on the door. 

Come join us every Monday from 2pm to 2:30pm for guided meditation and/or a sound bath by Max Mendieta. No need to sign up, just come on by! NEW: Call for Faculty Seed Grant Proposals (FY 2024–2025)

The Office of Research and Scholarly Activities Board is announcing the call for proposals for the Seed Grant (FY 2024 – 2025). The objectives of the Faculty Seed Grant Program are to provide support to a.) conduct well-defined and purposeful research, scholarly and creative activities that will lead directly to substantive dissemination in the form of peer-reviewed publication or other peer-reviewed intellectual or creative work, b.) encourage applications that have potential for external grant funding, and c.) support research, scholarly, and creative opportunities for CSU Pueblo students with faculty mentors. All tenure-track probationary and tenured academic and administrative Faculty of CSU Pueblo are eligible to apply for funding. A faculty member cannot submit more than one Seed proposal per grant cycle and is eligible to receive a maximum of two consecutive grants. Applications that have the potential for external grant funding are particularly encouraged. All Seed proposals must include funding for at least one registered full-time undergraduate (preferred) or graduate student. The maximum award for a Seed award will not exceed $10,000. Faculty who have never received a Seed grant and/or applications with the potential for external grant funding are strongly encouraged. The proposals will be evaluated by the Scholarly Activity Board (SAB) and will be recommended for funding based on merit only, regardless of college, school, department, or rank. Sociology 302 Collective Behavior and Social Movements W 5:30-8:00 pm  

The course examines what happens when the typical social order breaks down and groups of people challenge the existing social structures. From the strange fad of streaking in the 1970's to social movements like Black Lives Matter, this course will examine social movements, rumors, riots, fads, and fashions and the unique way that sociologists study these behaviors.

Public Management Emphasis with the Online MBA program

In addition to the management training all MBA students receive, the specialized public management knowledge and skills provided by the Public Management emphasis are invaluable for a career in public service, or with any business making positive social impact.
