WHAT:

Contractors are expected to construct a box culvert for a new drainage system on the freeway side between the McFadden Avenue off-ramp and the railroad. This work will require construction of temporary shoring to accommodate the freeway improvements. Construction equipment is expected to be delivered as early as 4 a.m., Monday, June 5 in preparation for the work.

Crews will construct the drainage system beginning south at the railroad and progress north towards the McFadden Avenue off-ramp.

WHEN:

Beginning as early as Monday, June 5, and continuing through the end of June. Work hours are from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.



WHAT:

Crews are expected to install precast concrete girders at the MacArthur Boulevard bridge. A girder is a beam either made out of concrete or steel used to support a bridge. This activity requires ramp and full closures on MacArthur, which can only be done at night.



WHEN:

9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday, June 7 to Thursday, June 8

CLOSURES:

• MacArthur under the freeway
• SR-55 northbound and southbound loop on-ramps. The off-ramps and the straight on-ramps will remain open

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
