Dear friends,
HAPPY SPRING!
I love new beginnings. I love the excitement of a new idea, the chance to do something better, the hope of things to come. Spring's renewal embodies all of these qualities. For me, renewal is not so much a question of how to return to what was, but how to grow and move something forward.
It's been a very productive past few months in the studio. In this new work I've been interested in a more physical and intimate engagement with materials and have been working in paint + collage. Often the collages begin with forms derived from unfolded and altered food packaging/boxes. I've moved away from the large paintings for now and am reveling in the intimacy of working at a smaller scale again. Forms that were in previous work, ie - the spade, have resurfaced and I've been expanding my palette. (And I'm a bit crazy for this blue!)
I'm excited to share with you some of the exhibitions that have included, and are planning to include, this new work. In January five of my pieces were in the exhibition, DEPARTURES, at 1053 Gallery in Fleischmanns, NY and I have two upcoming exhibitions this spring and summer in Kingston, NY and Provincetown, MA (see details below). I hope if you have the chance, you'll come out to see these exhibits. I'd love to see you and to have you see my recent work!
Wishing you all a joyous spring!
