301 FP Joint Ecological Team (JET) ECO Tip of the Month

Climate Care

The JET has adopted the ELCA Social Message entitled "Earth's Climate Crisis." You can access the official message here.

This social message was authorized in light of the grim contemporary situation affecting our global home and the need for fresh action on the part of the church. It draws its framing themes from several social statements, particularly the 1993 Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope, and Justice.

In this message convictions that expansively address caretaking for Earth’s climate are drawn. At the heart of this social message lies the claim that climate change presents humanity with a kairos moment; that is, a critical moment in time when God is leading us into decisive action.

This message is rooted in our duty to be responsible caretakers of God’s creation and is motivated by that responsibility and by hope. Though the climate has always been subject to some change, the facts show how dramatic global warming depends on human practices. With God’s help humanity can turn from the present course, take loving and just action, and live more harmoniously within God’s beautiful and verdant creation.

The Joint Ecological Team meets as needed to plan educational events, bike to work day, volunteer opportunities, advocacy and the 2023 301 Faith Partners Church Garden! If you have any suggestions for future Eco-Tips, please email them to the Trinity church office. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday October 24th at 5:30 pm in-person at church in the east wing Rm. 2 or via Zoom. Please join us!

Support and Relief Efforts for Maui

Here is a suggestion of Bishop Fitzpatrick, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii, for the best ways to support relief efforts for the fires in Hawaii.

  • The Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii is coordinating immediate diocesan relief efforts to the Lahaina Fire disaster through the Diocese’s A CUP OF COLD WATER (ACCW) (a non-profit organization of the Diocese that serves the houseless on Maui).

Make an online donation through the Bishop’s Pastoral Fund on the website of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii (the funds will be gathered and sent to ACCW).
