With Covid, sports and other demands in life, many of us have gotten out of the habit of worshiping at church and attending to our spirits. If that describes you or members of your family, September is the perfect opportunity to renew your spirit at High Church! ...

Emanuel Family Reunion Sunday - Worship & Potluck: September 24

For the potluck, the church will be providing the main dish, beverages, and table service (plates, cups, napkins, silverware). We’re asking members to bring sides and dessert. Please sign up in the narthex with the number attending and what food to share. Thank you to Andrea Sammons for coordinating and Helen Tritt for helping with the potluck.

Organist update: It is with great sadness that we share that Sharon Alberson will no longer be a part of our organist rotation at the end of September. Thank you for sharing your musical talents with Emanuel. You’ll be missed!

Custodian vacation: September 6-18. Please straighten around your pew after worship on September 10, so the church is neat for September 17 worship.

Secretary vacation: Sandy will be on vacation September 20-October 1. Please email the office if you need assistance during this time.

Support Emanuel Member:

Amanda Cotton will be reading some of her poetry for an event at The Akron Civic Theater. The event takes place on Saturday, Sept 9th at 7:30pm on the Wild Oscar's stage. Tickets are $10. The theme of the night is “Hope and Healing.” Afterwards, they will probably also have a book signing for their recently published book Hope. Healing. Poetry.

The church is having our Yard sale on September 15 (8AM - 5PM) and 16 (8AM - 2PM). We are setting up the sale on September 14 starting at 2PM. Contact Helen Tritt if you can help with set up, work, or clean up the sale.

This year the church is having a bake sale during the yard sale. Pies, brownies, cupcakes, cookies and fudge sell well at bake sales. We already have a volunteer making banana, zucchini, & pumpkin bread. If you can bake something, bring it to the church on the 14th or 15th. Thank you for any help you can give to our yard sale.

Lunch & Learn returns on Thursdays at noon starting on September 21. We will be showing the Great Courses video series Understanding the Old Testament. Please sign up in the narthex what weeks you plan on attending and if you’d like to provide soup & bread for any week.

Collecting clean plastic caps & lids: We’re hoping to save enough to make a bench for the cemetery. Please see Karen for more details.

3rd Grade Bible Presentation: If you have a child in 3rd grade this year, please inform the office by September 24. We schedule the Bible presentation in October.

Please bring donations for the Blessing Box when the church is open (Sunday morning & during office hours), so items can be kept out of the elements. The need for our pantry items has increased. Please consider bringing one item each Sunday to donate. Thank you for continuing to bless our community.
