ECM@WCU is a loving, inclusive, prayerful community that meets during the school year for worship, dinner, fun, and learning. Could you help by providing an entree, side, dessert, bread, or a whole meal for 10-12 hungry college students either on a regular basis or just once during the school year? Meals need to be ready to serve by 6:00 on
Sunday evenings.
Please contact Mtr. Gaelyn at rector@stdavidscullowhee.org if you are able to help in any way and please keep our ministry in
your prayers.

Support our 2023 Blue Ridge Service Corps by contributing to the Pack the Pantry event! Our new corps members will be moving into Folwell House on August 27th for their year of service and community. One of their first activities together will be to unpack and organize their communal kitchen space. You can help by purchasing items for their year through a Target registry or a Walmart registry. Give Feedback on Revised
Constitution and Canons
Our Constitution and Canons Committee has been hard at work to reform our important driving documents, and they want your feedback. All Episcopalians in the Diocese of Western North Carolina are welcome to respond by attending a feedback session.
Aug. 22 - Asheville
Aug. 26 - Zoom
Aug. 29 - Hendersonville
From the committee:
As part of our Diocesan discernment in calling Bishop José seven years ago, we identified a restatement of our Constitution and Canons as a goal for our life together. We recognized that our current documents, which evolved in a piecemeal fashion over several decades, are not a good reflection of how we currently live our common life. Since the 2017 annual Convention of the Diocese, the Committee on Constitution and Canons (the “Committee”) has been working on restatements of the Constitution and Canons. A proposed restated version was rejected by the 2021 Convention. The 2022 Convention tasked the Committee with making further revisions and it is anticipated that the Committee’s recommendations will be presented to the 2023 Convention for a decision.

Bishops in Central NC Condemn
anti-LGBTQ+ Attacks, Legislation
The Diocese of North Carolina’s two bishops released a statement this week expressing solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and condemning attacks on people “simply for being who they are,” while the state Legislature is poised to enact a series of anti-LGBTQ+ measures. One of the bills has drawn comparisons to the Florida law that critics have now labeled
“don’t say gay.”

Hawai'i Church Leaders Assess Wildfire Impact
Episcopal leaders in Hawaiʻi are assessing the immediate needs of people who have been impacted by this week’s wildfires on the island of Maui, which have killed at least 55 people and destroyed at least a thousand buildings, including a historic Episcopal church. The worst of the damage was experienced by Maui’s western community of Lahaina, population 12,700, where Holy Innocents Episcopal Church had stood
since 1927.
