Highlights from 2023-2024

  • Over 90% of all HIP stakeholders (11th/12th Grade Peer Educators, Faculty Sponsors, 9th Grade Teachers, and Administrators) agree HIP provides students with the knowledge and resources to be physically and emotionally safe and healthy.

  • 100% of HIP Faculty Sponsors agree HIP creates positive school climates at their schools.

  • 97% of HIP Peer Educators strongly agree/agree they have learned to advocate for themselves and others when it comes to health topics.

  • 97% of HIP Peer Educators believe they have gained critical leadership skills and recommend being a Peer Educator.

HIP’s Organizational Stability & Growth

HIP is a very lean organization, serving 60,000 students annually across Miami, Broward, Pinellas, and Monroe counties, with just a full-time staff of 4. 

HIP utilizes 3,500 volunteer 11th and 12th grade high school peer educators and 100 devoted HIP faculty sponsors to implement the program. 

In Miami, HIP partners with all 59 public high schools. No other non-profit organization has HIP's reach.

Investing in HIP means systemic impact across the entire Miami-Dade County community since HIP serves all high schools, all geographic areas and all socio-econonomic levels.
The Current Mental Health Crisis Among
Children & Teens

The CDC recently released a report where nearly 60% of teenage girls reported persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness. 

Kathleen Ethier, the director of the CDC’s adolescent and school health division states: “We’ve never seen this kind of devastating, consistent findings. There is no question that young people are telling us they are in crisis. The data really calls on us to act.” 

The report also raised the urgency to invest in schools as a vital lifeline to help struggling youth.
