Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!

The UC Office of the President is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 UC Advocacy Network (UCAN) Student Ambassador Program.  Student ambassadors will learn about the legislative process, and the critical role that advocates play in advancing UC’s mission with lawmakers.

We would appreciate your help in sharing this exciting opportunity across your student networks. Applications are due on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023. The program is open to all UC undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

Only 10 students will be selected systemwide and not necessarily one for each campus.  So, it would be wonderful to get a good number of Davis applicants to increase our chances of UC Davis representation. By having a student from UC Davis selected to serve as a UCAN Student Ambassador, our campus would be highlighted directly by students when engaging in digital and in-person advocacy in Sacramento and Washington, DC.

Ambassadors who meet key program criteria will be eligible to join advocacy trips to Sacramento and/or Washington, D.C., with allowable expenses covered.

Students advocate on behalf of UC but from the perspective of their own UC Davis student experiencer, major, school/college.  So, it’s also additional visibility for our UC Davis programs…so if you work with an amazing student, please encourage their application!

Volunteer Opportunity for Undergraduate Students

HOPE at Davis (Homeless Outreach through Prevention and Education) is a non-profit student-run advocacy organization focused on serving and advocating for our unhoused neighbors in our community.

At HOPE, we aim to:

a. provide university students in Davis with opportunities to engage and advocate for unhoused and/or low-income individuals

b. empower local unhoused individuals by cultivating a supportive and judgment-free environment

c. destigmatize homelessness by educating members of the greater Davis community on how to advocate for unhoused/low-income individuals

Some volunteer opportunities in HOPE include:

-Volunteering at local shelters and transitional housing around Yolo County

-Volunteering at our club’s Showers Program, a program in which we host free weekly showers open to the public at a campus locker room

-Distributing refreshments and COVID-related health supplies to those living outside through street outreach
