Professor Creates Mural in Queens’ Koreatown


Ji Yong Kim, Assistant Professor in the Arts & Design department, has completed a large public mural, “Color of Sound," on the walls of the Karaoke building in Murray Hill, Queens, NY. The mural, which was painted with assistance from RVCC alumni Sarah Lopez and Sarah Switlyk, depicts the rich heritage of Korean music and dance.

The Arts & Design department is presenting the 2023 Arts & Design Faculty Exhibition, showcasing artwork by the College’s talented faculty members, through September 19 in the RVCC Art Gallery.

Exhibit, Online Programs Address Cambodian Genocide


School and community groups are invited to schedule a free tour of an exhibition, “Three Years, Eight Months, and Twenty Days: The Cambodian Atrocities and the Search for Justice,” on display through December 20 at RVCC. Online programs are also being planned in conjunction with the exhibition.

Wayne Moschella, Automotive Technology Lab Coordinator, has been spotlighted by ASE, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, for his work as an automotive service professional.

Tools for School Drive


RVCC’s Student Occupational Therapy Assistant Association (SOTAA) collected back-to-school items for the United Way of Hunterdon County’s Tools for School drive in June and July. This is the fourth year that SOTAA has participated in the local drive. The RVCC students collected over 300 items, including erasers, pencils, markers, folders, notebooks, and 40 backpacks. 

RVCC Planetarium


The RVCC Planetarium welcomes visitors for field trips and private shows for groups of 1-100 people. Planetarium shows run 45-60 minutes. Groups also may participate in a scavenger hunt (about 10-20 minutes), which can be tailored to any age group and may be done before or after a show. The Planetarium also offers a small exhibit area and a gift shop that sells books, gift items, and Astronaut food.


Presentations cost $200 for up to 20 people; the cost for additional guests is $10 per person.

RVCCArts


The Theatre at RVCC (RVCCArts) will present is 40th season in 2023-2024. From witty, abridged Shakespeare; to spirited, multicultural drumming; to traditional Irish dancing; to celebrations of popular artists of the past; to holiday favorites; and much more—the upcoming season will offer entertainment for audiences of all ages and interests.
