NEW VOLUNTEER PROCESS

The following screening procedures have been implemented

effective March 2023:

  1. Current volunteers who have completed their Secure Volunteer Application AND the background check process DO NOT have to do anything to remain on the current District Volunteer Roster.
  2. New volunteers (including active duty personnel) will complete the Secure Volunteer Application
  3. Upon receipt of the Secure Volunteer Application (criminal background check results), Human Resources will process the background check information (which normally takes 24 to 48 hours to receive the results, but could take longer, depending on the workload of the vendor) and then notify the volunteer and the schools. Only individuals approved by Human Resources shall be allowed to volunteer.
  4. Our district policy requires that the names of all approved volunteers be added to a third-party vendor’s database as part of the District’s 24/7 Guardian Monitoring System.
  5. If the applicant is not eligible to volunteer because the results are unfavorable the applicant will receive a Pre-adverse Action Letter.
  6. Exemptions:  Field Day volunteers and Testing proctors (volunteering only during testing sessions) DO NOT need to complete the Secure Volunteer application.

Each summer, the North Carolina Cooperative Council hosts a week-long, overnight camp for youth at Camp Monroe in Laurel Hill, NC. Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, the camp features energetic and interactive workshops, presentations, outdoor recreation, leadership development, team building activities and small group sessions with an emphasis on how cooperatives operate. Youth who attend are sure to have an exciting, memorable learning experience while making lasting friendships with youth from across the state.

The schedule for the week includes organization of a t-shirt cooperative, including an election of a board of directors, and selection of a manager.  Participants are also involved in small group sessions focusing on the area of leadership development and competitive team building activities. Speakers include prominent elected leaders and officials, college professors, and representatives of marketing, purchasing and service cooperatives. Other special features include a talent show, luau and fun team competitions by the lake. Click here to apply https://forms.monday.com/forms/5db88ae31ff111d3a24011179e23ca18?r=use1
