A Wonderful Annual Meeting!

Friends of Herring River’s 2023 Annual Meeting was Wednesday, September 27th from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Chequessett Club Boathouse in Wellfleet. Approximately 140 people attended on a lovely early fall evening.

Thank you to everyone who was able to come and for the invaluable engagement and support!

Board Chair Dale Rheault warmly welcomed everyone and acknowledged past and current members of the Board of Directors and the successful navigation of a year of transitions.

Executive Director Christa Drew explained work highlights and visions for the future of the organization, which included announcing the newly approved vision and mission statements as well as the intention to explore finding a new organizational name and logo as we approach 15 years old.

Treasurer Jackie Fouse presented a succinct financial report highlighting the expensive, not-fully-covered costs of our work.

Wes Stinson, the Town of Wellfleet's Project Representative, gave a detailed update on bridge construction work of the Herring River Restoration Project.

The meeting’s Keynote Speaker was Stephanie Ellis, Executive Director of Wild Care in Eastham, who presented a riveting talk on both the common and endangered species of the Outer Cape and Herring River Estuary and their myriad values.
