Summer Camp 2023: Start the Spark!

Our 2023 Summer Camp theme was voted on by last year's delegates and staff, and we're excited to announce that CASCers selected the brilliant theme "Start the Spark!" Join us as a delegate or counselor to further develop your ability to spark change in your life and community. CASC China Partners to Attend 2023 Summer Camp

CASC's partner organization based in Beijing will send delegates to the 2023 Summer camp at UCSB. This will be the first time they have been able to attend since 2019 due to travel restrictions. The organization conducts trainings based on CASC curriculum in Beijing high schools.

Armenian Student Council Development Program Underway

Five CASC alumni are currently in Yerevan, Armenia, conducting a two-part training for educators in an effort to strengthen student involvement in decision-making in at least 30% of the high schools throughout the country. The program was developed in partnership with the Jinishian Memorial Foundation, an NGO that identified developing strong and effective Student Councils as a top priority in the education system.

Marissa Wong and Quyen Ngo, two former gammas and professional facilitators, are co-facilitating small groups with Tatiana Amtmann and Valeriia Nesvedova, former gammas with the Association of Young Leaders in Russia. 

The educators have experienced a basic CASC four-day program, which will soon be followed by a workshop on developing courses in the schools and training student council advisors, modeled on CASC's Staff Development Program (SDP). We look forward to continuing the partnership to develop strong and representative Student Councils across the globe!

ROC

On June 18, CASC held the South Regional Organizational Conference (South ROC), followed by the North Regional Organizational Conference (North ROC) on June 20. These conferences were conducted virtually over Zoom to facilitate widespread participation. All twelve regional directors were in attendance, ensuring representation from every region.

In preparation for the events, days of planning were invested. The State Secretary, GOALLS Director, Outreach Director, Development Director, Communications Director, and every State Presidents dedicated their time and expertise to attend and serve as instructors. Their presence provided invaluable guidance and knowledge to the regional directors, fostering a productive and enriching learning environment. Last but not least both ROC's were directed by the State Vice President Casey Kim.

SCA-2

CASC is currently sponsoring SCA-2 with GenerationUP. SCA-2 would lower the voting age in California to 17, bringing younger voters into the electoral process, expanding democracy and increase engagement among younger Californians.

Staff Development Program

From June 16-18 we had our North SDP and from June 23-25 we had our South SDP. SDP trains you to become a CASC Counselor and will take your skills to the next level. It is a great opportunity to learn leadership, facilitative and presentation skills that are applicable throughout your life. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect and work with current and future world leaders! If you enjoy Summer Camp you can attend Last Chance SDP that is from August 6-8.
