As residents of Greater Gainesville, we enjoy many aspects of a college town. As is our tradition, our physical office will be closed on Friday for University of Florida Homecoming festivities. We will be answering the phone and checking messages as usual. We hope our fellow locals enjoy the day and that the Gators have a better weekend!

• Any fans of British murder shows will have noticed that the murder rate in Oxford is very, very high. My family likes to joke about this, but it turns out that Oxford’s homicidal tendencies go way, way back.

• We can almost sense the coming of cooler temperatures. Of course, climate economics are very different here than in other regions of the world: 88% of the homes in the United States have air conditioning vs only 20% in Europe.

• Are Brussels sprouts better (or less-worse) tasting than you remember? They have been bred to taste less bitter over the past 30 years.

• The first tech bubble occurred in the 1600’s, the result of a search for sunken treasure!
