ANNUAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD IS: October 15th to December 7th

HOW TO STOP UNWANTED/UNSOLICITED MARKETING CALLS

As I have conversations with my Medicare clients I am understanding that they are still receiving unsolicited and unwanted Medicare marketing calls. I have shared with my clients over the months (years) that these unwanted/unsolicited calls and text messages are against our agent compliance and regulations !!!  As agents we have to sign and attest annually (by contract) NOT to buy marketing lists and randomly call Medicare eligible and solicit Medicare plans and attempt or pressure a Medicare eligible person to change their Medicare health insurance plan. Huge “no no” !

If a person eligible for Medicare wants information about an insurance plan or plans YOU HAVE TO contact an agent and “reach out” first.

I have received several reports from my clients that these unwanted calls are still happening.

There have been some changes (in 2022) to stop or combat these calls and unscrupulous marketing practices. The government has put into practice some new changes and regulations against agents. Apparently, some agents or agencies have not read or understand the new rules and these calls are still going on.

I have included some information for you as a consumer to help you file a complaint(s) to stop the unwanted Marketing calls.

YOU ARE THE FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE:

You can register with www.USA.gov to stop the calls: https://www.usa.gov/telemarketing

You can also report unwanted calls to the FTC … Federal Trade Commission:  https://consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2021/05/unwanted-calls-just-block-em-and-report-em

You can also file a complaint with the Department of Financial Services (DFS): https://www.dfs.ny.gov/contact_us/main. This agency is the one that tracks unwanted, unsolicited telemarketing calls and is supposed to hold the perpetrator accountable.

WHAT IF YOU MISSED THE MEDICARE DEADLINE – DECEMBER 7TH?

If you don’t make a decision or miss the December 7th deadline to change your Medicare Advantage plan, no worries.

There is another change period: January 1st to March 31st. This is called the Open Enrollment Period (OEP).

You currently have to be in a Medicare Advantage plan to change your Medicare Advantage plan. This is for Medicare Advantage plans only.

If you change your Medicare Advantage plan in January, your effective date for your new Medicare Advantage plan will be February 1st.

If you change your Medicare Advantage plan in February, your effective date for your new Medicare Advantage will be March 1st.

So there is still time to decide (and not be crammed into) or decide by December 7th.

If someone does not make a decision or can’t change their plan with me by December 7th, then we can make the changes January to March 2023, Medicare Advantage plan to Medicare Advantage plan only.

Keep me posted.

I will be returning all calls!!!!  My goal is within 24 to 48 hours.

You can reach me by email or cell phone.

If there is a delay in returning your call or email, then please text me (with your first and last name at the end of the text message).

WHAT TO DO WITH THE LEFT OVER THANKSGIVING STUFFING

Try these stuffing, egg, and cheese bites:

Pack the left over stuffing into muffin tins. Leave a little room at the top of the muffin tin for more ingredients. Take feta cheese or your favorite type of cheese and push it down into the middle of the stuffing. Drop in a whole egg over the top (or scramble raw eggs first, as preferred). Sprinkle more cheese or a different kind of cheese, as preferred.

I did feta cheese pushed into the middle of the stuffing and added parmesan/mozzarella mixture sprinkled on top.

Put the muffin tin in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes to 30 minutes to make sure the egg is cooked and the stuffing is warmed.

Really good!  Great breakfast item or mid-day snack.
