We woke this morning to news of an attack on Israel. Occurring on Simchat Torah and the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, more than 2,500 rockets were launched from Gaza on cities across central and southern Israel, reaching as far as Jerusalem, while terrorists infiltrated the country’s south by land, sea, and air. While reports vary and numbers continue to rise, we anticipate that at least 100 people have been killed and more than 900 wounded so far in the attacks.

Here, in Houston, we stand with Israel. We are monitoring the situation, are in communication with Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) and its Israel office, and we will continue to keep you informed as circumstances evolve.

The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) have issued the following statement on the matter:

Listed below are news links and other resources that you can review and use to stay informed as this crisis emerges. Once we know how we can help more directly, we will be sending additional communications. The existing relationships that we have on the ground - including with the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), funded with you support of our Annual Campaign - allow us to already be a part of the emergency response efforts.
