The Port St. Lucie Governmental Finance Corporation (GFC) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful land sale of Lot 6 in Southern Grove Plat No. 43, located in the Jobs Corridor. The resolution authorized the execution of a Purchase and Sale Agreement between GFC and Chill Build PSL, LLC, a subsidiary of Sansone Group. The purpose of the agreement was to facilitate the purchase of approximately 18.77 acres of land for the development of a 2.7M square foot refrigerated/frozen warehouse and distribution facility. The completion of this sale not only brings substantial economic benefits to Port St. Lucie but also reduces GFC's annual SAD (Special Assessment District) expenses by around $114,000. Additionally, Sansone Group will make further capital investments in infrastructure to support the development of individual parcels within the area. With this successful transaction, GFC's annual SAD assessment expense is expected to reach a total reduction of $946,800, solidifying the city's goal of fostering a diverse local economy and employment opportunities. The land sale marks another step forward in the realization of Sansone Group's vision to create a class-A Industrial Park, bringing significant development and growth to the region.

Grand Opening of IRSC
School of Nursing Set for August 8
a Media Alert from Indian River State College
FORT PIERCE, FL—A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Indian River State College School of Nursing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m. at the IRSC Pruitt Campus at 500 N.W. California Blvd.
The event is open to the public and will feature remarks, a ribbon-cutting photo opportunity and tours and demonstrations in the nearly 12,000-square-foot high-fidelity simulation center, an 11-bed simulated nursing unit replete with a surgical suite, labor and delivery rooms, pediatric rooms, medical/surgical rooms, emergency room/ICU room, nursing stations, home-health suite and more.
The event site, Building G, is one of two buildings—more than 50,521 square feet in total—repurposed into high-tech nursing classrooms and simulated clinical settings. Students will begin the Fall 2023 semester in these immersive learning environments.
“Nurses are the backbone of healthcare,” said IRSC President Dr. Timothy Moore. “In December 2021, in response to the critical need for more nurses in Florida, we announced our intent to double the number of graduates from our Nursing programs. We are well on our way with the opening of this best-in-class facility, and I look forward to celebrating with all who shared our vision and helped make this project a reality.”
The IRSC School of Nursing offers students multiple pathways to pursue careers in nursing. Programs include Home Health Aide, Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.), Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.), Registered Nurse (A.D.N.), and Bachelor of Science Nursing (R.N. to B.S.N.).
Those interested in joining IRSC at the School of Nursing Grand Opening event should R.S.V.P. to Nina Jewett, Pruitt Campus Coordinator, at 772-336-6210 or njewett@irsc.edu by Thursday, August 3.

Mayor Martin to participate in
Bloomberg Harvard Leadership Initiative
Mayor Martin is one of 40 mayors and 80 senior city leaders hailing from 27
U.S. and 13 international cities across nine countries and six continents
a Media Alert from the City of Port St. Lucie
PORT ST. LUCIE – Mayor Shannon Martin was selected to participate in the seventh class of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, joining an accomplished set of 40 mayors and 80 senior municipal leaders from their cities who will participate in the yearlong professional management training program.
Established by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard Business School as a first-of-its-kind program to help close the gap in executive development for the public sector, the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative equips mayors and senior city leaders with the tools and expertise to expand their problem-solving capacity, strengthen their city halls, and improve outcomes for residents.
“I am thrilled to collaborate with mayors from across the globe and to be a part of the Bloomberg Harvard Leadership Initiative’s seventh class," Mayor Shannon Martin said. "I look forward to bringing back ideas, skills and tools that will help equip our local leaders with innovative approaches to strengthen Port St. Lucie, tackle community challenges and improve residents' lives."
The flagship program of the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University, the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative brings together Harvard faculty, staff, and students, alongside experts from Bloomberg Philanthropies’ global network, to work with the mayors and their senior officials over the course of one year. Through a combination of intensive classroom, virtual, and field-based learnings and offerings, the Initiative helps these leaders bolster their teams’ use of data and evidence, drive collaboration and innovation across sectors, and deliver impact for communities. In addition to the core coursework and convenings with peers, each city is also able to access additional offerings, including executive education programs for their economic development, civic engagement, human resources, and procurement leads; opportunities to host a Bloomberg Harvard City Hall Fellow for up to two years; and instructional research and materials that help city leaders improve key organization practices.
“This year’s class features a diverse, international group of mayors who are changing their cities and the world, and we’re glad to bring them all together in New York,” said Michael R. Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies and 108th mayor of New York City. “Mayors face no shortage of urgent challenges right now – from poverty to climate change to public safety. This program is designed to help build their capacity to lead and empower them to act boldly. We look forward to working closely with this new class throughout the year and to seeing the results they’ll deliver for the millions of residents they serve.”
“The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative creates opportunities for deep connection and sustained engagement with leaders on the front lines in cities around the world, putting knowledge and research to work for millions of individuals,” said Harvard University President Claudine Gay. “Along with the broader efforts of the Bloomberg Center for Cities, it exemplifies the convening power of the University and underscores our commitment to openness and collaboration now and in the future. I am thrilled to join Bloomberg Philanthropies in welcoming our seventh cohort of mayors and senior leaders to the program.”
To kick off their participation, Mayor Martin was one of the 40 mayors, who are from nine countries and six continents, who joined Harvard faculty and renowned management leaders in New York City for a four-day immersive classroom experience. Two senior leaders from each of the cities will begin their participation in the program in August.
