Upcoming Classes
Caring Palms has several classes coming up. The Reiki classes are available for anyone looking to learn this method of energy healing with continuing education available for Florida massage therapists.
Reiki 1 is scheduled for August 19th and is going to happen, but is available for more students, and Reiki 2 is scheduled for August 26th with slots open for more people. Those two classes are worth 12 live continuing educations hours (6 CEUs each).
Each class requires a minimum of 4 students to take place.
If you are interested in any of these classes, sign up now. Don’t wait for the last minute. (More classes will be scheduled for after August as soon as I am able).

May You Live in Interesting Times
Whether a blessing or a curse, this past period has been some interesting times. Over a week ago, the hard drive crashed on my computer. It was a digital drive as opposed to a spinning platter, so I guess hard drive might be a misnomer. Unfortunately, when one of these goes, there is no recovery. Instead of getting a new computer, I simply had a new drive put in, and have been spending a lot of time loading it, and still don’t have it back to near what it was. At least I am no longer dealing with pen and paper to process appointments.
I am still working to locate all my CDs so that I can load software that is on it, like DreamWeaver which I use to make changes to the website. (When I am able to do that, I will be adding more Reiki classes.) At least because of some funky stuff that Windows 11 does that keeps everything on the hard drive on the cloud (and has totally confused me as I have no idea where information is being stored), I seem to have the majority of my information. Only time will tell for this.

Body Mechanics Class Cancelled
Once again, the Advanced Techniques and Body Mechanics had to be cancelled for lack of students. Since this class seems to have been cancelled more times than it has been given, it will not be offered again. At least I am pleased that it was able to help the 35 students that did take it.

Spiritually and Death (part 1)
by Brian Dean
I like to think of myself as a spiritualist (at least when I’m not defining myself as a Jedi Knight). That means that I don’t follow traditional religion, but tend to have a one on one relationship with spirit. Being a medium makes me believe that way.
I know spirit is there. I know that when we pass over, it is truly passing over from one realm to another. Our energy being moves out of the physical body and moves back to the realm of pure energy. We don’t go to Heaven. We don’t go to Hell. Those are man-made constructs to make people behave properly. We simply pass from one place to another. We move across the vale.
As a medium I see this, I contact people from the other side (or spirit realm if you wish). I also work with spirit in the form of their energies, communication, aid to help others on this side.
But I am also human. And with that comes human feelings (love, fear, grief, loss). So although I understand what is going on, that does not stop me from feeling those things.
When someone leaves us, there is a hole in what was our existence, something that does not feel right, something that is missing. The closer the person (or pet) was to us, the bigger the hole. And we grieve that, we have to. And all the platitudes of “they’re okay now” or “they’re in a better place” just don’t help. These things are said with good meaning by people that may or may not believe what they say, but are just offering comforting thoughts. At the same time, these things are true. Suffering is over, pain is gone. But where are we now?
I remember when my Dad passed some eight years ago. I understood everything I’ve just stated, and yet, there was that grieving period. And while I have the ability to make contact, and know others that do, it is not the same as calling him up on the phone and chatting for a bit.
The point of all this is to help understand what happens on a soul level and a human level. And even knowing all of this, when someone passes, we still have to give in to our human side, know what we know, yet feel what we feel. Grieve. Feel loss. Cry. Then come back to understanding. Come back to your life, and continue to make what you can out of it.

The cycle also applies to multiple lives, coming into a body, learning what one needs to, and then returning home.

Helping The Dying (part 2)
by Brian Dean
We know what happens in death, but what can we do to help those that are dying? People that have terminal illnesses, those in hospice (which is the last part of the death process), people that are near the end. First off, they need to be made as comfortable as possible, and if they are in hospice, that is what the care givers should be doing. But those in this process can be helped to make that journey across the vale. The key to that is energy, and compassion, and thought, and communication.
It takes a lot of energy for a soul to cross over. As an energy worker, I have seen this. When I am faced with someone I can help, I send them energy. This could be Reiki, or white light, or whatever is available. With Reiki, we have been taught that the soul is the gate keeper. It decides if it will accept the energy being given, and if it does, will it use it to heal the body, or save it for travel. For all other energies, the same is true, but I believe it goes immediately into storage for use when there is enough, or when ready.
Any energy worker can do this, giving the person energy, but so can anyone else. Just thinking of them being able to pass comfortably sends them energy. Praying for them sends them energy. Compassion and caring is also energy. You don’t have to actually need to be actively thinking of helping. You simply need to care.
And lastly, you need to communicate, even if they can’t hear, even if they can’t respond. Tell them you love them. Tell them not to be afraid, and that it is okay to go. They will hear you, even if they are deaf. The message will get across.
When they are ready, they will leave.
We lost my wife’s mother last night. She 97, and had been in the hospital and then a rehab facility for almost a month. The idea was to help her so she could walk, and then go home. But she stopped eating, pretty much making the decision herself. Hospice finally took over care yesterday, and gave her the medications to take her out of pain. I believe it was that which took away the distraction that kept her here. Over the past two weeks, I have sat by her bedside giving her energy (pretty much what I did with my mother 24 years ago). The energies I used were Reiki, white light, trance healing, and anything I could tap into. We have been telling her that it was okay to leave. I could feel all the spirits in the room watching, waiting, reaching out their energies for her to grasp onto.
She finally was settled enough to leave shortly before midnight. Her husband who passed eight years ago let me know she had made it across all right. So now the human process starts.
As we were headed over to the center this morning (August 1) just after midnight, I looked up and saw this beautifully bright full moon. As I looked upon it, I heard, “And a light shall guide your way.”

Caring Palms schedules Reiki classes throughout the year. Because we can not hold them at the studio as we have in the past, we are holding them at another location, and this incurs additional cost. Therefore, we are not scheduling as many classes as we used to. We are also holding classes for a minimum 4 or more students. We also need to let the class site know a week before the class date whether we will be having it or not. So, if you are interested, sign up early.
The following is a list of currently scheduled Reiki Classes. Each class (unless otherwise marked) currently has a status of 'Scheduled'. This means that a date has been set, but no one has signed up for it yet. Once a deposit has been received for a class, the status will be 'Confirmed'. Any class marked as 'Closed' has filled up. (Note: In some cases, one may be able to enter a class marked 'Closed' with permission of the instructor.) Because we are renting the location per use, each class requires a minimum of four (4) students to happen.
You may sign up for any of these through the website, or over the phone with a credit card.
Reiki 1
- Saturday, August 19, 10am - 5(ish)pm Confirmed
Reiki 2
- Saturday, August 26, 10am - 5(ish)pm
Reiki 3
Reiki 4
More classes will be added based on how the ones currently on the schedule go.
All classes are open to anyone wanting to learn this unique method of hands-on healing. The cost for each class is $150 no matter what level of Reiki the class is for. A $75 deposit is required a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the class date (or permission of the instructor) to reserve a space in the class. Full payment must be received two (2) days before the class date. Classes with no deposits received by the cut off date will be canceled. All class statuses may be viewed under Reiki, Reiki Class Information, and Class Schedule. You can also sign up for classes there. (Check the website for the location.)
Reiki 1, 2, and 3 classes are Florida Board of Massage Approved for six (6) Continuing Education Hours (CEUs)

Leave a Review, Enter Our Drawing
|
Leave a review and be entered in a drawing to win a free session. If you have enjoyed the services at Caring Palms, whether that be massage, Reiki, or classes, or something else, please leave a review on one of the review sites like Google, Facebook, or any of the many places that take reviews. Lately, it has been these reviews that have been bringing new clients into the studio, and all have been glad they found us.
Anyone leaving a review will be entered into the monthly drawing to win a free session (massage or Reiki). Reviews made between the first and last day of each month will go into the drawing, and the winner will be pulled on the first of every month. Thank you all that have left reviews, and congratulations to the people who have already won free sessions.
Note: We are asking people not to post on Yelp unless you are a person that posts there regularly. Yelp has some qualifying software that looks at each review, and if you are a regular poster, your comment is deemed "Relevant", otherwise your comment is marked "Not Relevant". While Caring Palms has 20 5-star reviews on Yelp, only seven of them are deemed "Relevant", and one has to go through another step to see the remaining 13.

Brian is now doing readings to anyone that wants to sit for one for $50 for up to one hour. Keep in mind, these are mediumship readings, not psychic readings. If you have an interest, please contact Brian and something can be scheduled. These can also be scheduled from the website. For more information on readings, please go to the Mediumship tab on the website, and then you can see several articles about mediumship including what to expect, and what happens during a session.
