Zion has created an email account specifically for parents and families to share their photos with the school. Zion is blessed to have so many parents that take incredible photos of our students on field trips, at parties, at sporting events, etc. Zion would love for parents to share the pictures to be used in our yearbook and Lion's Tale, etc. Please take the time at some of the events and field trips coming up to share some photos with us.

Prayers for Zion Students, Staff, and Families

Student Council...

Zion Families,

THANK YOU, for your support for the Student Council Spencer's Toy Chest Gift Card Drive. Because of your generosity, Zion Student Council was able to gift the Cancer Center Spencer's Toy Chest forty-six $10.00 Gift Cards! Student Council also raised $400.00 to donate to this special charity.

Thank you again,

Zion Student Council:

Amaris Mendez - President, Grace Huchel - Vice President, Izzy Fujimoto - Treasure, Aurora O'Connell - 7th Grade Representative, Raven Robinson - 6th Grade Representative, Miles Fenn - Mascot

About Spencer's Toy Chest.

The original Treasure Chest was donated by Spencer’s Treasures to St. Joseph Hospital. That organization was founded in 2000, in memory of five-year-old Spencer Stockton who died of a rare brain tumor. He was treated at CHOC and St. Joseph Hospital. After his family moved away from Southern California, St. Joseph Hospital staff and community members have kept the Treasure Chest filled with good things for pediatric patients receiving radiation therapies.

Quick Facts:

*The chest is refilled on an ongoing basis

* Toys must be new, due to infection control

* Thousands of toys are needed year-round

* Depending on usage, the treasure chest can need up to 150 toys a week

Each child can choose one small item from the treasure chest after each radiation session, which can be once a day for weeks or maybe just one or two times, depending on the medical diagnosis. At the end of the entire treatment protocol, each child can choose a large item from the treasure chest to signal his or her successful completion of therapy! The age range of patients is from infant to teenager, so a variety of age-appropriate items is always needed for the treasure chest.

Zion Sports Banquet

You are cordially invited to the Zion Lions Sports Banquet on May 18, 2023, from 6-8 pm in the gym.

Message from the Principal

Dear Zion Families,

It’s hard to believe that our school year is drawing to a close with only a week and a half left. It was a very rewarding year, and we have so much to be thankful for. Our goal is to always provide a stable, nurturing, fulfilling environment for our students. Our teachers and staff take great pride in being a vital part of the molding, shaping, inspiring, and teaching of our students. Thank you for entrusting Zion with your child. It is truly a gift to us to serve YOU!

Mrs. Lyles,

Principal
