Amigos Latinos Gala

Saturday, October 7, 5:30-10pm

Nutter Center Arena


The Amigos Latinos Gala is a night of food, dancing, live music, awards, and a silent auction, all while giving back to scholarships for Latino students at Wright State. This gala is the signature fundraiser for the Amigos Latinos Scholarship and helps support the mission and work of the Latino Center. Tickets can be purchased online.

RAIDER RESILIENCE WEEK

Raider Resilience Week will feature informative discussions, training opportunities and activities designed to promote open conversations about mental health and provide tools for self-care. The week also features numerous fun activities organized by Campus Recreation to promote mental and physical health.The week will culminate with Wright State’s celebration of World Mental Health Day on Tuesday, October 10.

Black Gold 黒金 Photography Exhibit

A photography exhibit featuring the work of Cameron Peagler '14, study abroad alumnus and Gilman scholar, Black Gold黒金 aims to encourage Black students to study abroad through celebration of Black community members in Japan, whose success stories often go unheard. This exhibit includes portraits and intimate interviews of 30 Black creatives and entrepreneurs throughout Japan.

Wear orange and join IACSA in commemorating Orange Shirt Day––a day of remembrance for the Indigenous boarding schools and their legacies. Meet for a group photo at 4pm, followed by a 30-minute screening and discussion about how the boarding school histories are represented in popular culture. To purchase a paper shirt, wooden pin, or t-shirts priced ($1 to $25), stop by the ANA Center ASAP! All proceeds will go toward the WSU Native Student Scholarship Fund.

Introduction to International Education Workshop Series

Apply by September 30; workshops run October through March


Up to two students will be selected to represent WSU in the Ohio International Consortium's "Introduction to International Education" Workshop Series. This series is designed for students curious about careers in international education but who have not yet had an international experience. Participants will explore careers in international education, have an opportunity to job shadow and network with leaders in the field, and learn how to document this experience during their job search. Students who complete the program will be reimbursed for the cost of their first passport. Follow the link above for full details and to apply. International Underground Railroad Day

Join the Middletown community and State Rep. Willis Blackshear Jr. in observance of International Railroad Month. Rep. Blackshear Jr. will be a keynote speaker in downtown Middletown for the 2nd anniversary for "International Underground Railroad Day". The event is free and open to the public.

10 more volunteers needed for NCCJ Teen Summit


The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) of Greater Dayton's Teen Summit provides high school students with resources and skills that they can utilize to make changes in their school around topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This year, the theme is "Stigma: Overcoming Discrimination and Supporting Healing." Teen Summit will host 20 high schools in the Greater Miami Valley region. The Teen Summit encourages students to build networks of passionate youth leaders in their district. As a group, these leaders build projects to impact their district and community. NCCJ is in need of motivated college volunteers to help facilitate. Facilitators are responsible for leading their assigned group of high school students through the exercises as they work through the curriculum. Volunteer trainings are available October 10 and 12, the Teen Summit is on October 19. Responsibilities include conducting community outreach by knocking doors as well as data collection and management. New campus features provide increased access, safe space for disabled students at Wright State


Wright State University’s Office of Disability Services and the Division of Inclusive Excellence unveiled two new campus features––the Disability and Neurodivergence Center at 023 Student Union and a new segment of the tunnel system connecting Hamilton Hall to the Student Union–– that highlight Wright State’s ongoing commitment to a positive, productive learning environment for students of all abilities and backgrounds.
