Greater Pike Awards More than $40,000 in Scholarship Aid

Greater Pike Community Foundation recently presented scholarship awards totaling $40,700, including $20,000 in recurring awards to 4 past recipients, to Delaware Valley, Port Jervis, Kittatinny, and Wallenpaupack Area High School seniors who are planning to pursue a variety of academic interests in colleges and universities this fall.


The awards, benefiting 14 students, are from Scholarship funds administered by Greater Pike.


“We are so pleased to be able to provide these deserving students with a little bit of financial help as they pursue their academic interests,” said Greater Pike’s Board Chair Gail Shuttleworth.

Wayne Bank Supports Greater Pike Community Foundation

Jim Donnelly, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Bank, is pleased to announce that Wayne Bank has supported the Greater Pike Community Foundation with a donation through the Educational Improvement Pre-K Program.


The mission of the Greater Pike Community Foundation is to enable generous individuals, families, and local businesses to maximize their charitable support through organized, targeted, long-term community philanthropy. 


Greater Pike provides a permanent and personal way to give back to the region we all love and have worked so hard to nurture and maintain.


Through the Greater Pike Community Foundation, this specific donation will support the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD) of Pike County. Their goal is to provide early learning educational and behavioral support to the children in their community. They are committed to serving children with developmental disabilities and delays in an education setting that meets their individual needs. They provide services to over 200 families in Pike County and offer a quality pre-kindergarten program that follows the Pennsylvania Department of Education standards and curriculum guidelines.

This scholarship provides multi-year support for the higher education costs of graduating Delaware Valley High School seniors who are first-generation children of non-U.S. citizens and who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need.

Board Member Spotlight

Christa Caceres is proud to serve in her first year as President of the Monroe County Branch of the NAACP. She holds a B.A. in Jurisprudence and M.S. in Law and Public Policy from the California University of Pennsylvania. She also proudly serves the constituents of the 8th Congressional District of Pennsylvania as a Constituent Advocate for the Honorable Matt Cartwright.

Christa’s leadership and advocacy activities include membership in several area organizations.


The Greater Pike Community Foundation, which creates and manages funds to sustain annual grants and scholarships by nonprofits, companies, individuals and municipalities and Pocono Mountains United Way, which assists individuals and families in need in Monroe County through partnership and collaboration and serves as co-chair for PMUW’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Cohort.


Mrs. Caceres has been a resident of the Pocono Mountains since 2005, where she enjoys life with her husband of over fifteen years, her beloved son and dog Titan.
