New Sign Language Teacher Joins Staff
Gina Ley has joined the ASOP staff as a sign language teacher. This semester she will be teaching Sign Language 2. Gina has taught American Sign Language (ASL) for over 25 years. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Art with an emphasis in photography from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, TX, and a Master's Degree in Deaf Education from McDaniel College, Westminster, MD.
Gina is deaf and was born in the United Kingdom. She said she started teaching, "because someone believe in me and thought I could teach."
"I love to teach and tutor people how to sign," she said. "I started teaching sign language in 1994."
She loves "football" (soccer). Her father was a professional soccer player. Gina said, "Football is my life!" So she supports Arsenal Women's Football Club (UK).
In her spare time she continues her interest in photography and loves to clean and organize things.
