Spring Awakens with Early-Blooming Flowers; Grooming Plants | Photos: J.A.
|
March is rich with anticipation for gardeners and landscapers. The heavy rains portend light spring days ahead, spring-bloomers are beginning to offer their brilliant pops of color, and the land is waking up from its winter slumber.
At the same time, there is much work to be done to prepare for the coming season. Plants emerging from their winter dormancy may require special care, soils need testing and tending to, seeds need planting, landscape plans are being drawn up.
We're here to help. This month, we're sharing some of our favorite early bloomers, handy tips for preparing your landscape and garden for spring, and local events to help you stay up to date with the latest in garden and landscape techniques.
At the nursery, we're stocking new, hard to find varieties every week, so please don't hesitate to contact us for help finding what you need.
As always, thank you for your business! Wishing you a fresh-blooming season full of new beginnings,
Jane

The heavy rains this month may be washing away your topsoil, so make sure to take the time to prepare your soil and assess your landscape before planting this March. Preparations for spring include:
Assess your soil: Test your soil's pH levels to determine what type of amendments it might need, such as lime to raise the pH or sulfur to lower it. You can also add organic matter, like compost or manure, to enrich the soil and improve its structure.
Consult a calendar: When it comes to planting, timing is everything. Consult a gardening calendar to determine the best planting times for your specific area.
Put in the time: Regular watering, pruning, and fertilizing are all essential for ensuring a healthy, productive garden. Take the time to observe your plants and respond to any signs of stress or disease.
With careful planning, you can enjoy a colorful, thriving landscape come spring. As you plan and prepare for the new season, please visit us to browse our thousands of available plants, or contact a sales specialist for a quote.
