Dear valued members,
As we celebrate National Eyewear Day and Juneteenth this month, we would like to take a moment to recognize and honor the contributions of our esteemed partners - Vontelle, Eyecandy Creations, (FUBU).
These companies have been instrumental in shaping the eyewear industry and promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We are proud to have them as our partners and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.
On National Eyewear Day, we encourage you to showcase your favorite eyewear and share your unique style with the world. Let's celebrate the power of eyewear to transform our look and boost our confidence.
As we commemorate Juneteenth, let us remember the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors and honor their legacy by promoting equality and justice for all. Let's continue to work together to build a more inclusive and equitable society.
I would also like to take this opportunity to talk about cataracts and the importance of wearing sunglasses during June, which is recognized as Cataract Awareness Month.
Cataracts are a common eye condition that affects millions of people worldwide. They occur when the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to blurred vision, sensitivity to light, glare, and difficulty seeing at night. While cataracts can be treated with surgery, prevention is always the best approach.
One way to reduce your risk of developing cataracts is by wearing sunglasses that provide adequate protection against harmful UV rays. Exposure to UV radiation is a known risk factor for cataracts, and prolonged exposure can cause irreversible damage to the eyes.
When choosing sunglasses, look for those that block 100% of both UVA and UVB rays. Polarized lenses can also be helpful in reducing glare and improving visual clarity, especially when driving or participating in outdoor activities.
In addition to wearing sunglasses, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can also help prevent cataracts. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants, such as fruits and vegetables, and avoiding smoking can reduce your risk of developing cataracts.
If you are experiencing symptoms of cataracts, such as blurred vision or sensitivity to light, it is important to make an appointment with your optometric physician.
