VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Signup to volunteer for Charlestown Day

Thank you for your commitment to the GVCO Caring Hands program. We have our first event coming up! On Saturday, September 30th, we are looking for volunteers to assist with the 2023 Charlestown Day. The event will be held at Charlestown Township Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help with face painting, arts and crafts, monitoring the moon bounce and so much more! To sign up either use the link or the QR code to the sign-up Genius above.

Caring Hands "Grade Leader" Opportunity

We are looking for the interest of committed members in being a “Grade Leader”. A grade leader is one person from each grade (7th-12th) who plans to attend the majority of events, is reliable, organized and dependable.

A grade leader is expected to assist their grade level at each event in order to maximize our success. This position requires responsibilities including; keeping track of their grade's attendance, taking photos and staying in contact with the Caring Hands communicator to receive those materials as needed. With this position comes an opportunity for resume building, community involvement, and leaders will be given extra volunteer hours.

This position is not high stress, but a great way to learn how to manage your peers, stay organized and build communication skills. The opportunity also promotes philanthropy and ways for students to give their time, serve others, fundraise and ultimately help those in the community that need it the most. If this is something you or your child is interested in, please reach out to Maddy.Camp@gvco.org as soon as possible.

Upcoming Events

GVCO is a proud partner of Cradles to Crayons and are so excited to integrate the brands mission into our Caring Hands programing. We will be collecting new and like-new items for underprivileged children from birth through age 12. On Saturdays (October 21 & 28, November 4) we will be hosting days for volunteers to assist in marketing the drive and collecting the items for donation. The times are TBD and look for a sign up genius in the near future!

The new GVCO center is hosting a Caring Hands meet up! We are having members meet at the GVCO center in order for them get well acquainted with their peers and the new building. This opportunity will allow Caring Hands to get an overview of the year and help finalize the Grade Leaders. This is where Grade Leaders will learn their roles for the year along with all other members. The tentative date is October 10th @3 PM.

Caring Hands News

Thank you all for volunteering and your interest in our student run community service program, GVCO Caring Hands. For many, many years, this group successfully produced an incredible amount of philanthropy for our Great Valley Community and surrounding region.

With the onboarding of our new GVCO Community Center complex early this October, GVCO envisions accomplishing a much greater amount of service going forward. The expectation is for much more frequent engagement, leading to a greater level of student volunteer service and commitment. Having a physical place to gather, meet and organize should have a tremendous positive impact.

To find out more, go to our Caring Hands section of Community programming page on GVCO.org. See who we helped, read testimonials, how to get involved and more. Search some of last year's Caring Hands newsletters to all the great things our GV students are doing!

As the new school year begins, look for additional Caring Hands messaging via newsletters, Facebook and Instagram for ways both students and parents can get involved. For further questions, please reach out to community@gvco.org.

Some of the upcoming community service opportunities in September will include Charlestown Township's Charlestown Day event, events to support the Brandywine Valley SPCA and a Cradles to Crayons donation drive.
