...Involving the Next Generation in Medical Missions
This is the second summer of Caring Partners' college internship program. Our desire is to locate college students with a heart for service and an aspiration to learn more about missions and ministry, and then introduce them to the medical mission work of Caring Partners. This "introduction" for each intern comes by way of having them assist in the day-to-day activities of our ministry, but also by the development of a specific mission project that pertains to their college major and personal interests. And - as a part of their service - each intern joins Caring Partners on a summer mission journey!
This summer, Abby & Michaela are both serving with CPI. Abby will be a senior this fall at Berea College in Kentucky. Abby is majoring in Community Health, and is helping our ministry "fine-tune" our church-based community health training. Abby has developed a survey which our team will take to Guatemala this coming June, to be completed by the trainers and students that participated in our February 2016 community health class at the Geneserat Church. The feedback she will receive will be used to enhance future teaching models & curriculum.
Michaela is a student at Wright State University in Ohio, and will be a senior this coming fall, continuing her studies in Biology. Michaela has an interest in medicine, and will have the opportunity during our June mission journey to Guatemala to observe our healthcare providers in action. She is also assisting with gathering data and contacts to expand our Tri-State Care Network, and working in the warehouse and pharmacy with various healthcare-based projects.
Do you know a college student who may be interested in serving with Caring Partners during the 2016-2017 academic year? Internships are available with our ministry during the school year, and also the summer months, and we are currently taking applications from interested students. The deadline for applying for a Fall internship is August 1st, for internships for the Spring & Summer of 2017 - the deadline is December 5th, 2016. Questions?
