Dear Saint Mark Family,

I pray God’s richest blessings abound unto you in all the ways, at all times.

As you read this note I am away at Annual Conference in Athens. Thank you for your prayers and words of support for your lay leaders - Jon Woody, Mitch Foster, Robert Gilleo, and for me as we participate in the work of the larger church. We are thankful.

I share with you today one of my favorite Psalms, which has been a source of hope for me, a joy, and a reminder of what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do in my life. I now see this Psalm as the same for what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do Saint Mark.

Psalm 126

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”

The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

Saint Mark, the Lord has done great things for us! Let us rejoice and celebrate!

This Sunday, we will celebrate one of the many great things God has done for us by cutting the ribbon for our long-awaited parking deck. We will have our first ribbon cutting at 8:30am, and the second will be at 10:30am. I invite you to come and celebrate the great thing God has done for us.

I also want to share with you a portion of a report from our chair of Trustees, Belva White, regarding a generous act by a former family member of Saint Mark.

For those of you who joined us in person on May 28th, you may have seen and heard the buzz about some repairs made to our "plaster snowfall" area on the 5th Street side near the rose window and in the area above the choir loft. We want to provide some background on what you saw and share some exciting work to begin in June.

On Saturday, May 27, there was a big wedding in the sanctuary with some long-ago family members who returned to Saint Mark for this important life milestone. As the family looked over the most severely damaged areas, they asked if they could make some repairs - even if temporary - to spruce up the church for their wedding. There was no cost to Saint Mark; the repairs allowed them to create the desired look; and we get to enjoy the restoration however long it lasts!

We give God thanks for all the Lord has done. The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy!

God’s unending love and blessings,

Pastor Carolyn.
