November is a very busy month here at the library.  There are interesting programs for adults, Character visits for children and a babysitting course for teens.   This is only a partial list of all the great things going on in the building this month, so check our website for all the information on events at the library.

Maker's Meeting - Come one come all and bring your creation!!

Description: Do You have a passion for making things? Do you sew, knit, crochet, weave, carve wood, make jewelry, arrange flowers, paint, fold origami, etc, etc.? This is a chance for you to sit down with fellow creators, share your work, and be inspired by theirs. Please bring 1 object you've made and be prepared to talk briefly about it. What is it? How, and Why did you make it?

Clifford the Big Read Dog is Coming - November 7th 

Clifford the Big Red Dog is coming to the Nevins Library on November 7th at 10am.  Children are invited to participate in an engaging story time and related activities with their favorite literary character.  All participants will have an opportunity to meet Clifford and have their photo taken with him.  There will be goody bags while supplies last.  Please register online to attend this event.

This program is sponsored free of charge by the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA).  This Start U. Reading Series is one of MEFA's statewide early college planning initiatives designed to introduce young students' to the joy of reading.

Barnes and Noble Bookfair to benefit the Friends of the Nevins Library

Friend of the Nevins Library Bookfair at Barnes & Noble

Come and visit with the Children's Librarians and shop with us for that perfect holiday gift! Visit our Friends' table located on the main floor at Barnes & Noble to say "Hello" and obtain your shopping sticker. That will identify you as a Nevins Library shopper.
 
A percentage of your Barnes & Noble purchases will benefit the Friends of the Library . Simply present the coupon that may be obtained on-line from our web site or from the Readers' Services front desk beginning November 9th. If you are unable to attend the Fair that day, you can make your purchases on-line at www.BN.com/bookfairs beginning December 5th and running through December 10th.

Make Cookie Ornaments for your Holiday Decorations

Adults are invited to join us on Monday November 30 at 6:30 pm and learn how to make and decorate your own Holiday Cookie Ornaments.  Everyone will make their own non-edible dough, roll, cut and hand paint each cookie ornament.

Babysitting Course for Teens
When Seconds Count 

Saturday November 21 9am-4pm

This month we are offering a special babysitting course for students in grades 6-9 who wish to become responsible babysitters.  This course is provided by the experts at When Seconds Count, a local company that specializes in providing CPR and first aid courses for groups in the area.  There is an $80 fee for this all day program.

Elin Hildebrand Returns in December with her New Book "Winter Stroll"

Wednesday December 2 at 6:30pm

The Nevins library is excited to announce that we are welcoming Elin Hildebrand back to discuss her latest novel, Winter Stroll.   Winter Str oll is  Elin's sixteenth novel, about a family and the upheavals that the holidays can bring.  Books will be available for purchase and signing and we light refreshments will be available.  It is sure to be a popular program, so register early!!
