 AGC Holiday Reception


Join us on December 6 (4:30-7:30 pm, but come at 4:00 for the business meeting!) for the 2023 AGC Holiday Reception at Quiney Hall! This annual event is our chance to celebrate another wonderful year with our peers in the commercial construction industry. 


Parking is included for attendees, with many surface lot spots available.

Annual Business Meeting Notice


Notice is given to the voting members of Associated General Contractors of Minnesota, a Minnesota cooperative organization (the "Association"), that the December 2023 annual meeting of the voting members will be held at Quincy Hall (1325 Quincy St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413), at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, for the following purposes:



1.     To approve the December 8, 2022 Annual Meeting Minutes.

2.     To ratify and approve the acts of the Association's Officers and Directors.

3.     To approve the Treasurer's Report.

4.     To receive the Nominating Committee's Report and elect Directors of the Association.

5.     To transact such other business as may properly come before the meeting or any adjournment(s) thereof.


This year's annual meeting includes a vote on proposed amendments to our bylaws, which have been approved by the AGC Board of Directors.

Mortenson Execs Receive Business Journal Award


Congratulations to Mortenson Chairman David Mortenson and CEO Dan Johnson on being named recipients of the Business Journal's 2024 Executive of the Year award!


They are the 48th annual recipients of this award, launched in 1977 by the former publication, Corporate Report, which established the honor to recognize business leaders who helm some of Minnesota's largest companies. Only one other year in the award's history has a leadership team been recognized instead of just an individual. Read more

Construction Partnering Program Open House


Hosted by McGough Construction, AWC held a Construction Partnering Program (CPP) Open House this week. Featured speakers included Brad Wood (McGough), Scot Moser/Laura Karow (Partnership overview), and Mayor Melvin Carter, followed by a networking session.

Expand the Toolbox:

Addressing the Construction Skilled Labor Shortage - International Workers"


This Tuesday, the International Institute of Minnesota hosted the Expand the Toolbox (ETT) Fall Summit titled "Addressing The Skilled Construction Labor Shortage – International Workers H1-B." The Summit featured the legal perspective by Kivu Immigration Law, followed by a panel discussion with Hyon Kim (MN Best), Cindy Wuddah (MN State University, Mankato), and Alejandra Bejarano (Economic Development Planner Region 9 Development Commission), and was moderated by Emma Corrie (President & CEO of Twin Cities RISE!).


ETT educates and supports employers in successfully diversifying their core workforce and staff throughout all levels of the industry.

2nd Annual Summit on Mental Health in Construction


The Minnesota Construction Coalition for Mental Health is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Summit on Tuesday, November 28. The agenda will feature subject matter experts and members of the Minnesota construction community discussing substance use and mental health in construction. More details here.

AGC 2023 DEI Awards


Applications for the second annual AGC DEI Awards are now open! These awards recognize member businesses for their initiatives in the diversity, equity, and inclusion space, and are presented in four categories:



All applicants must be members in good standing with AGC of Minnesota for at least one year, and must sign the Culture of CARE Pledge. Submissions must relate to activities or initiatives conducted in the past 12 months.


Entries are judged by the AGC of Minnesota Diversity & Inclusion Judging Committee, based on the information provided in the application. Judges are non-members who are business owners, or work in educational institutions, government entities, and community-based organizations that work in tandem with the construction industry.


The 2023 Awards will be presented at the AGC Honors event on January 16, 2024 | St. Paul Event Center

SAFETY NEWS

20-Year CHASE Recognition Event


The Construction Health and Safety Excellence (CHASE) program is celebrating its 20th year with a special event to honor the participating contractors whose stellar safety records continue to lead the Minnesota construction industry!

Join us at Ames Center on November 8 to celebrate the achievements of these contractors in the past year, and hear an inspiring safety message from renowned speaker Garrison Wynn - "Influencing Safety: What the most successful leaders do differently."

AGC Honors


Each year, AGC of Minnesota solicits nominees to be recognized for career contributions and personal accomplishments that have elevated the industry beyond the boundaries of their respective firm or business. This year, honorees for the AGC Lifetime Achievement Award, Skill Responsibility, and Integrity (SRI) Award, the Jensen Safety Awards, the DEI Awards, and the joint MnDOT/AGC Bridge Awards will be celebrated during an exciting evening of recognition and live entertainment at the 2024 AGC Honors on January 16.

EDUCATION & EVENTS

Applications are still being accepted for the next Executive Circle series. Now in its third year, this Executive Circle is an executive leaders’ development program.


If you, or someone in your firm, is charged with making decisions or influencing decisions on behalf of the firm, this program is a must. Participants explore various aspects of transformational leadership over six sessions with Tina Nazier, Wipfli’s National Construction and Real Estate Organizational Performance Strategy Leader. The 2024 program begins January 25 and concludes May 16. Application deadline is November 17, 2023 and is available to AGC member firms only. No more than 14 people will be accepted.


The program adheres to the AGC of Minnesota Antitrust Policy.
