Hello Erin,
We hope you are doing well, staying healthy, and enjoying your summer! Above you see an image of one of the coolest places in Cambodia and in the entire world, Angkor Wat. This temple was originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, but it became a Buddhist temple by the end of the 12th century. The site has sustained significant damage, from forest overgrowth to earthquakes to war, yet it has incredible staying power. We think that Angkor Wat is a metaphor for the entire country of Cambodia and its people; despite war, poverty, and division, the people of Cambodia have incredible staying power. During the last 6 months, Cambodia has endured so much damage from the ravages of Covid-19. Cambodia is still shut down to tourists, and those entering the country are subject to a 2-week quarantine and daily covid tests. The direct impact of this has been an immense loss of income. In addition to this, people in Cambodia have endured city and province shutdowns, and extreme lockdown orders in parts of the country. Despite these difficulties, Mission 25 has been continuously working with our partners in-country to bring hope to a heartbroken country. We know that God is still moving mightily throughout Cambodia despite these hardships. We ask you to please partner with us to support and pray for Cambodia and those living there.
