Florida Keys Fishing Report

Local Business Pau Hana Marine Brings You the Fishing Report for September

Weather extremes have been the name of the game this past month providing numerous

challenges in all areas of fishing. Whether it’s the daily intermittent thunderstorms, high winds,

hot waters and even a passing hurricane, the weather has made August a challenging month.

Visibility on the inshore has made lobstering and every type of fishing very challenging. At times

the murk has made its way even to the reef and reduced the normal bite conditions. Coming

into September we’re hoping for more mellow seasonal weather, however the NOAA extended

forecast is still calling for unseasonably warmer temperatures. On the days the weather has

cooperated the offshore mahi bite has been better than it was earlier in the summer. Reef

fishing has been on and off and even the deeper wrecks have been hit and missed. As soon as

the water temperatures drop, and visibility returns, the fishing should be hot. Here’s to hoping for fair weather.
