It is with sadness in our hearts that we mourn the passing of Walter Schultz. Walter began his career at SFDS in 1963. In the next 41 years, he would call SFDS his home. He dedicated half his life to the families we served and the mission of St. Francis de Sales High School. His passion for Catholic education and inspiring our young adults was second to none. During Walter's illustrious career here, he held the roles of teacher, department chairperson, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal and CEO. Walter's legacy will be forever imprinted on our building and his impact on the students who walked these halls will be long sustaining. Mary Kay Ramirez shared these words: "I fondly remember being a senior in college and attending a job fair on Purdue's campus. Walter interviewed me there and I was intrigued by this catholic school on the East Side of Chicago. Walter spoke so fondly of this place that I had to come and check it out. Needless to say, like Walter, I have now called this place my second home for almost 40 years. Walter, you will be missed but not forgotten."
