UPCOMING RIBBON CUTTINGS
Thursday, August 31st, 10 a.m.
Back Porch Ice Cream
3663 US Hwy 59

Hello Everyone:

In the coming weeks, the Tyson poultry plant in Noel, Missouri will be closing. As a result, nearly 1,500 people will be out of work very soon.
We want to reach out to these folks and let them know about job opportunities in Grove.
To do that, we need to know if your business has job openings, how many, and the qualifications a candidate would need to meet to apply.
I spoke with the McDonald County Chamber Director Monday. He said they will be having a second job fair for the Tyson employees on Thursday, September 28th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at the Noel Elementary School – and we are welcome to attend.
They had more than 30 businesses represented at their first job fair, and he is expecting an even larger turnout this time. If you would like to represent your business at that job fair, let me know and I will send you the information you need.
If you can’t be there, but want to have your business represented, Connie and I will have a station set up at the job fair. Please get us the information, packets, or brochures you would like displayed, and we will display those at our station.
Here at the Chamber, we are working to establish an ongoing and current list of job openings in our area. As we get closer to putting the job listing page online, we’ll let you know how to get your job listings included.
Please let us know if you will be attending the job fair (September 28th in Noel) or if you’d like us to take information about your openings with us. We need to get a Grove attendance count to the McDonald County folks as soon as possible.

Thank you –

Laura Huckabee,
Grove Area Chamber President

RIBBON CUTTING
Creekside Cabins
Whoo-wee! It sure was a hot day for a Ribbon Cutting, but it felt much cooler in the lovely shade of Grand Lake’s newest accommodation destination: Creekside Cabins! Located just South of Honey Creek Bridge at 62141 E. 313 Rd., Creekside Cabins is peacefully tucked into the shores of Grand Lake and offers a seemingly endless number of amenities: outdoor pool, bounce houses for the kids, fire pit and community area, hammocks, horseshoes, outdoor movie screen, lake views, cabins, RV spaces and much more. Co-owner Jeff Hendrix, who taught Science and Robotics in Texas before moving to Grand Lake, wanted to give Grand Lake visitors “something to do when they get off the lake”. The project took a little more than a year and a half to complete and the primitive property originally had no water, sewer or electricity. Now, Creekside Cabins boasts 4 cabins of various sizes as well as multiple RV spaces. Owners Hendrix and his partner Tanveer Hussain, who also owns Grand Pointe and Grand Motel in Grove, expect to add at least 2 more cabins to the property in the near future. Still needing a place to stay and play over Labor Day Weekend? Give Creekside Cabins a call at 918-964-5055 today! Spaces are filling up fast!
Ambassadors attending the Ribbon Cutting were Todd Franke - AmeriSpec Inspection Services, Jay Alexander – Grand Savings Bank, Judi Johnson – McGraw Realtors, Louise Templin – Individual Member, Sharon Morton, Julie Jones and Mina Herren-Hale – Grand Lake Newcomers, and John Sawyer – Sawyer-Phillips Insurance. Also attending were Connie King – Grove Area Chamber Executive Vice-President and Laura Huckabee – Grove Area Chamber President.
RIBBON CUTTING/OPEN HOUSE
Grand Lake Surgeons
Dr. Kyle Wooderson and Grand Lake Surgeons Clinic have moved to a new location at 2229 S. Main St., and the Chamber helped celebrate with a Ribbon Cutting to coincide with their Open House! Formerly located at the corner of Broadway and Har-Ber Road (115 Har-Ber Rd.), the clinic now has more space to do their important work: colonoscopies, endoscopies, and general surgery. Dr. Wooderson, Dr Haley Adams, Certified P.A. Amber Duncan and the entire GLSC staff are there for you at their beautiful new offices. The location may have changed, but the great service and friendly faces remain the same. Thank you to all who came to the Ribbon Cutting and Open House!
Do you have a neighbor that takes care of their yard like no one else? Or perhaps you drive by some gorgeous landscaping on your way to work that makes you smile? If so, nominate them for the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce's "Yard of the Month" and they could win some great stuff! Call, come by or email the chamber the address (and name/phone number if you can) of the Grove area home that you want to nominate.
