LEADERSHIP CHANGE AT KAIPERM CREDIT UNION |
There’s been a leadership change at Kaiperm Credit Union, which is headquartered in Shadelands at 325 N. Wiget Lane, #130, with a second branch at 1550 Newell Avenue, Walnut Creek.
Karen Introcaso, Kaiperm’s CEO for the past seven years who steered Kaiperm’s exceptional growth in both membership and member benefits, retired from the credit union at the end of last year. Kramer Chan, formerly Kaiperm CFO, stepped into the role on January 1, 2023.
“Kaiperm Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution as all credit unions are,” says Kramer. “What makes Kaiperm distinctive is that it’s exclusively dedicated to Kaiser Permanente employees and their families and Kaiser retirees.
"We focus on the health care profession and tailor our operations to meet the needs and expectations of our 6,700 members nationwide with competitive credit, loans, banking, and other financial products and services.”
Kramer has been with Kaiperm for close to 12 years, joining the credit union as an accounting assistant and working his way up through the organization—which prides itself on developing talent and promoting from within—to CFO for the past seven years.
“Karen has been a great mentor— knowledgeable and experienced, and naturally adept in people skills,” says Kramer, who worked closely with Karen knowing he would one day step into the CEO role.
Now Kramer is overseeing an expanding Kaiperm as it continues to build and strengthen its infrastructure and take steps to scale its operations to meet a nationwide membership with a worldwide reach.

We still have only two branches,” says Kramer, “but we have a strong digital footprint, which includes easy to navigate online access and an advanced mobile app, so we’re able to serve our members anywhere in the world.”
Founded in 1957 on the principle of people helping people, "we are Kaiser Permanente’s best kept secret," says Kramer, "but we’re stepping up our game to let the secret out.”

CALICRAFT IS BREWING UP NEW CONSTRUCTION PLANS; PUBLIC HEARING, JUNE 8 |
Established in 2012, Calicraft Brewing Co. at 2700 Mitchell Drive, across from the Ultimate Fieldhouse, has long been a popular meeting and drinking establishment, welcoming family and friends who come together to enjoy Calicraft's innovative California-inspired microbrews, ciders, and spritzers; guest food trucks; and community events.
Now founder and CEO Blaine Landberg and team are brewing up plans to offer a greater indoor and outdoor taproom, tasting, and beer garden experience.
Plans are to expand the brewery's current operations by rebuilding the taproom from the ground up, adding a new building and production facility, expanding its beer garden, and adding a tasting room and outdoor bar at its current location.
Calicraft is in the final stages of approval from the City's Planning Commission, which is holding a public hearing to discuss construction plans.
The public is invited to join in the meeting and public discourse in person and online.

BECOME AN ANIMAL FOSTER AND SAVE A LIFE |
Every year, hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens spend time growing, healing, and receiving much-needed TLC in volunteer foster homes throgh Animal Rescue Foundation's (ARF) Foster Program.
Dedicated volunteer foster families save lives every time they open their homes and hearts to a homeless animal through ARF's Foster Program. Fostering is an opportunity to volunteer together as a family or care for a pet without a long-term adoption commitment.
Becoming an animal foster is a quick and easy process with a huge impact on homeless animals. Consider signing up specifically for ARF's Pets and Vets foster program, where animals have already been matched with their veterans.
