PRIDE PARADE

Join us for the Minneapolis Pride Parade THIS SUNDAY, June 30!

We will be marching with the ECMN contingent, which includes St. Mark’s and St. David’s. Parking is available for $20 at St Mark’s Cathedral, and a group will be meeting there between 10-10:15, and walking together starting at 10:30. Otherwise, plan to meet at our designated staging location: 3rd St. South facing Marquette Ave. South (spot #48).

Dress for the march: good walking shoes, lots of water, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate attire. Thankfully the weather is predicted to be gorgeous - a great day to be out!

All parishioners are encouraged to wear rainbow or Pride colors this Sunday, even if you’re not attending the parade. Let’s show our support and celebrate together!

A Message from the Rector

Dear Beloved at St. David's,

I will be away on vacation for 4 weeks to take a big, long drink of play and rest, from June 27-July 27. My plan is to travel and also just spend some time at home. I couldn't feel more confident in our leadership (clergy, staff, parishioners) to steer the boat while I am away. Deacon Guy Drake will be the primary contact for pastoral emergencies (gdrake@stdavidsparish.org, 612-590-8502), with the Revs. Lindsay and Leonard Freeman as priestly backup. Sr. Warden Diane Curley will be on hand for other needs (dcurley@stdavidsparish.org, 763-232-9412). I will be disconnecting entirely, not taking emails, phone calls, texts. You will be in my prayers, and I ask for your prayers as well.

With love and thanksgiving,

Katherine

St. David’s “Back to School” Supply Drive

Leadership Request

Over the years we have partnered with Resource West (a division of ICA) collecting school supplies for our local community. We are looking for new leadership in this outreach project. If you are interested and/or just have more questions about what this may entail, please contact Anne Monteith (aemonteith60@gmail.com) or Diane Curley (dcurley@stdavidsparish.org) with any questions or to express your interest in taking on this project.

Comprehensive Campus Initiative Meeting

Thursday, June 20, 2024

The Comprehensive Campus Initiative (CCI) gathered last week. Kelsey Schuster, Canon for Operations and Chief of Staff for ECMN, spoke to the group about the involvement of the Diocese in making plans for the St. David’s Campus. Kelsey assured the group that St. David's is not alone in wanting to strategize how the grounds and buildings are used. Many Parishes across the nation are considering the same thing. However, every community is different. The Diocese is excited to be partners with and advocates for St. David's. They are happy to share discernment and decision making together. What does it look like for elected ECMN bodies to help decide what happens with the St. David's buildings and property and what does consent from the Diocese look like? The governing bodies such as the Joint Property Committee, are here to help St. David's make the best decisions possible. Whatever projects St David's decides to pursue need to be sustainable because ultimately the Diocese is responsible if the Parish can no longer sustain the projects. The Diocese has resources to help along the way so the group will be working closely with Kelsey through this process. There is also potential grant money to apply for. Trinity Wall Street gives grants to help fund projects, property redevelopment, and use. Kelsey closed by encouraging the group to go slowly and to be patient. The group plans to meet monthly beginning again in September.

Please reach out to any member of the committee with questions and comments: Cliff Crockford and Katherine Lewis, co-conveners, Carol Johnson, Diane Curley, Doug Eichten, Maddie Harvala, Karin Lindquist, Huldah Niles, Paul Smejkal, Kristina Stokes, and Craig Warren.

Education for Ministry This Fall

Education for Ministry (EfM) is a four-year small-group formation program based on study and practice in theological reflection. There are currently two EfM groups in ECMN, one in-person local one and one online:

  • In-person group: An in-person EfM group will meet Thursdays from 10:00AM – 12:00PM at Grace, beginning in September 2024. Interested participants should contact Kathy Monson Lutes or Danielle McCoy.
  • Online group: An online EfM group meets Mondays from 6:30-8:30PM on Google Meet, following an academic year schedule (Sept. – May). The group includes members from several ECMN parishes as well as some non-Minnesotans.

Please note that in order to register for either group for the fall, the group mentor(s) will need your name to add to their group in the EfM registration system this summer, which will prompt the system to invite you to register.

Interested but want to know more before deciding whether or not to participate? We’re happy to facilitate a conversation with a current participant or mentor – please email efm.ecmn@gmail.com with that request.

Want to participate but neither of these options works for you? Let us know at efm.ecmn@gmail.com – there are also online groups based elsewhere, and another in-person group could be formed if there’s sufficient interest.
