September is Rail Safety Month

September holds a special significance in California as it marks Rail Safety Month, a vital campaign aimed at educating the public about dangerous behaviors that lead to tragic and fatal incidents on and around railroad tracks. Unfortunately, California continues to have one of the highest number of trespassing and rail related deaths in the nation. This month-long initiative, coinciding with National Rail Safety Week from September 18th to 24th, strives to educate the public about the urgency of staying safe near trains and railroad tracks, emphasizing the need for caution, vigilance, and adherence to rail safety guidelines to reduce incidents to zero.

Community Advisory: SDG&E Scheduled Night Work

The Plaza Shopping Center (Vons Shopping Center), situated east of I-5 on Lomas Santa Fe Drive, is in need of a critical replacement for its main electricity feeder cable. This essential maintenance work will require a temporary power outage affecting some businesses within the shopping center. To minimize disruption, the work is scheduled during nighttime hours when most businesses are closed. SDG&E has scheduled to perform this night work on September 15th, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.  Additionally, during this period, SDG&E will temporarily close the eastbound exit lane from the Plaza and the bike lane on Lomas Santa Fe Drive to facilitate this upgrade.
