Buda Bonds 2021 Updates

Project Updates and Milestones

Buda Acquires Parkland for Garison Park Enhancements

The City of Buda recently acquired 4.5 acres to add to Garison Park’s 40-acre property. The Commissioners Court pledged up to $900,000 for the purchase through the Hays County 2020 Parks Bond. The acquired property, located at 901 Garison Road, will provide continuous access along Onion Creek where Garison Park will be constructed. Geotechnical work is also underway for Garison Park.

Robert S. Light Boulevard

Robert S. Light Boulevard has now been extended to link FM-1626 and IH-35. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is working on the section of Robert S. Light between Main Street and FM-1626. The goal of this project is to alleviate traffic and congestion on Main Street in Buda and divert trucks away from downtown.

  • Current Status: Under construction
  • Bond Amount: $712,500

The rehabilitation work continues and is on track for Fall 2023 completion. Work includes ditch regrading, milling, and guardrail replacement. Please watch for construction equipment in the coming weeks as crews proceed, weather permitting.

Sidewalk Improvements for Old San Antonio Drive and Cabela's Drive

In the City’s continued efforts to improve pedestrian mobility, two new sidewalk improvement projects are underway:

  • Cabela’s Drive Sidewalk - $50,000
  • Old San Antonio Road - $67,000

Both projects will address the gaps in the existing sidewalks, making it safer and more convenient to walk between businesses and neighborhoods. Field data has already been collected on Cabela’s Drive and Old San Antonio Road at the beginning of the month.

Main Street East Extension

Traffic count data from Main Street will be obtained between Sept. 6 – 8 at IH-35 frontage roads and Firecracker Drive. The consulting firm also visited Main Street between IH-35 and Firecracker Drive to evaluate environmental constraints and considerations the week of Aug. 21. Survey data was also collected earlier this month.

Krista’s passion for helping and serving people led her to a career as a realtor with Keller Williams Realty! Outside of the BBOC, Krista serves on the Board of Directors for the Buda Area Chamber of Commerce where she gets the opportunity to meet various small business owners.

Since Krista moved to Buda in 2016, meeting and supporting local business owners over the years has been her favorite part. In her free time, Krista enjoys live music, traveling, playing board games, cooking, and watching movies.
