Ending The Summer With Gratitude!

Featured Image: CAN staff and community members at Green Baxter Court's Back to School Bash August 12th.

Fall is quickly approaching, but we aren't too sad over here at CAN because we had an AMAZING summer and Afterschool Programs begin very soon! August was a month stuffed with backpacks (pun intended!), community events, making new connections, plus a staff conference! We hope you all join us in reminiscing on an eventful month and looking forward to a

GREAT new season!

Back to School Events

Hundreds of students

got to pick out backpacks full of supplies in time for school to start!

August at CAN means it's Back to School Event season! We hosted 6 parties to celebrate the beginning of another great school year! Each one provided a chance for community members to mingle with school faculty, get connected with resources across the county, enjoy some great food, music, and games, and of course pick out a backpack!

Thank you so much to all our partners who either provided support, tabled at one or more of the events, or donated items so that these events would be a success!

So many fun memories made!

Management Conference

Our annual Management Conference is a time for us all to get together, reflect a bit on the last year, connect on different levels, and look ahead to the next year. This year, our conference was held at Independence Lake giving us an opportunity to do some team bonding in nature! After two days reviewing progress and diving deep into goals for the next year, we are all feeling refreshed and ready to take on a new season in an innovative way!

Welcome Andre!

Join us in welcoming

Andre Ballard, CAN's first ever

Director of Human Resources!

We are thrilled to welcome Andre to the CAN team. In the world of non-profit organizations, where every resource is invaluable, the role of HR is paramount. It involves an unwavering commitment to the well-being of our staff, ultimately enhancing our organization's ability to create a profound and lasting impact on our community. While Andre may operate predominantly behind the scenes, his essential contributions will be instrumental in ensuring CAN's ongoing growth and success!

Bryant's Community Clean-up Weekend

Bryant Community Center hosted its annual Community Clean-up event, offering residents access to dumpsters for clearing their homes of unwanted items. This cherished tradition, spanning decades, goes beyond a simple clean-up; it's a much-anticipated occasion that brings the entire community together. Neighbors generously lent a helping hand, assisting one another in disposing of bulky items and contributing to a Swap Day where free items found new homes. This event strengthens community bonds, making it a cherished highlight in our neighborhood's calendar!

Afterschool Program Begins September 11th!

CAN is gearing up for another exciting season of learning, growth, and fun! As we prepare to welcome back our returning students and welcome those new to our communities! We're committed to providing a comprehensive after-school program that fosters not only academic development and offers a safe space for students in the early evenings, but also encourages social and emotional growth, positive relationship development, and creativity!
