So You Can See...
As the fall feasts approach and we take account of our personal ledgers, it seemed good to compose a different kind of newsletter. Normally, we try to send you a meaty teaching for Shabbat, but there are other kinds of "food" as well:
-
Yeshua said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work." (Jn 4:34)
To encourage as well as teach, we wanted to give you a glimpse into the work you've helped accomplish over this past year. When you purchase a Creation Gospel workbook or make a donation, the proceeds go to Torah-based orphanages.
Our primary responsibility is LaMalah Children’s Centre, now settled in its new Naivasha location. The children have quality housing, good staff, nutritious food, clothing, and education in addition to the Torah-based spiritual foundation. To the five greenhouses that grow food year-round, they've also added security fencing, a separate dorm for older boys, and a well that produces such an excess of fresh water that it can be sold to locals in times of drought. We've also added a work truck that can carry construction materials or bulk foodstuffs, and it can be fitted with a water tank for potable water sales.
Under construction now is a multi-purpose building that will have laundry facilities, kitchen, volunteer/guest quarters on the first floor and a large meeting room and dining room on the second floor so that the children may gather twice per day for prayers. It will also be possible to use the space for Bible seminars and educational programs for the children.
Another project we've been honored to assist this year is the rebuilding of the orphanage in Rwanda after a storm destroyed it last year. The 258 children are now housed in a leased facility, which is expensive, but work is now progressing rapidly on the new compound which is in a beautiful, safe location. The outer security walls are complete, and now the individual buildings are going up. The Torah community there lost several members in the early summer floods, but we are encouraged to see this next generation being provided safe housing, and Creation Gospel donors provided six months' worth of more nutritious food to supplement their staple diet of rice.
The third orphanage is Hadassah Orphanage in India. Last year we were able to help the orphanage purchase adjacent property, and this year, we've been able to check off several pressing needs including: excavation of the new property for vegetable gardening, a water purifier, a new vehicle, a tailoring machine, a security wall to protect the children from predators, a grinder, generator, and new kitchen cooking utensils.
What did we miss? Well, with all the new construction, we've not been able to contribute much to the girls home in Peru, Restoring Hope. Although their director and the heartbeat of its mission of compassion, Rick Daviscourt, passed away recently, his son has taken over the responsibilities, and we would like to do more there in the future. These girls had a terrible start in life, but the Word is providing life and hope, and we'd love to see these girls spread the message of Yeshua and Torah throughout Peru. First however, they need these years of feeling secure, wanted, loved, and gifted with a future.
The other great need is an additional $12,000 to build a dining/meeting hall for Hadassah. Other than that, any small amount each month to contribute toward providing nutritious food to all these orphanages is our main concern going forward.
Please scroll down to see the Father's blessings we've been able to pass along to the orphans in Kenya, Rwanda, and India, and please keep them on your prayer list. As the Father has blessed and kept them, may He also keep you, bless you, make His face shine upon you, and give you peace.
Sincerely,
