Luvk9s June monthly newsletter
Most of us consider Memorial Day to be the unofficial start of summer. More importantly, it represents a day of reverence to remember all our heroes in uniform who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our country and its values. It's also an appropriate time to acknowledge man's best friend, the military dogs who died working alongside our troops.
Keep your dog safe

With the official start of summer (June 21) right around the corner, remember how deadly keeping your dog unattended in your car can be, even for a short period of time.

If you see a dog locked in a hot car, what can you do? There are only 15 states with "Good Samaritan" laws that permit a person to break into someone's car to rescue a pet. GEORGIA IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Georgia law DOES provide immunity to law enforcement who damage cars when rescuing people or pets, so in Georgia, call 911 for assistance.

While waiting for help, take down the car's make, model and tag number and if there are businesses nearby, notify management to make a store-wide announcement to try to locate the owner.
Double your pleasure, double your fun?
Anyone remember the early advertising slogan for Wrigley's Doublemint gum? "Double your pleasure, double your fun, with Doublemint, Doublemint, chewing gun!" The advertising campaign used twins as spokespersons as a play on the word "double" in the products name. There was even an ad that featured a young girl holding twin puppies.

Getting two puppies at the same time seems like a great idea. If you're going to go through housetraining, why not housetrain two pups at once? For folks who work outside the home or just aren't home much, the logic is that the two puppies can entertain each other and keep each other company. While this may be true, research has shown that other problems can develop.
