Deaf Advocate and Influencer Raven Sutton, participated in an Instagram Live event with Felton Institute's Deaf Community Counseling Services (DCCS) Lead Case Manager Tori Serrano.


The disability activist, dancer, content creator, and contestant from Netflix's ‘The Circle,’ spoke about her experiences growing up as a Deaf person, her advocacy work, and the importance of mental health awareness in Deaf communities.


DCCS empowers Deaf and Hard of Hearing clients to live self-sufficient lives through a transformative focus on their overall well-being.

Felton’s Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) team provides support and services for family members and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide in Marin County.

LOSS Program Coordinator Sophia Balestreri on Suicide Loss

Sophia Balestreri shares her story about being a survivor of suicide loss. The program Coordinator for Felton Institute’s Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) program talks about her experience of losing a son to suicide and her commitment to supporting others impacted by suicide loss. “Once your heart has been broken and it’s cracked open,” Ms. Balestreri explains, “it’s amazing how much compassion that you have for others' pain and suffering.”


LOSS is a survivor-led program that provides support and services for family members and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide. The team, many of whom have been directly impacted by a suicide loss, provide support and care to survivors after a suicide has occurred.

Felton Institute President and CEO Al Gilbert Featured Guest on KPOO

Felton Institute President and CEO Al Gilbert was a featured guest on San Francisco community radio station KPOO. Mr. Gilbert was interviewed by “Let Me Touch Your Mind” host Marilynn Fowler.


He talked about Felton’s past, present, and future and how Felton continues to be a leader in providing quality mental health and social services that strengthen families and communities.

STARR Shines at Reentry Conference

The Supporting Treatment and Reducing Recidivism (STARR) team comprised of June Keegan, Darin Engrassia, and John Lyons, attended the 11th Annual Reentry Conference & Resource Fair at Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco. STARR Case Manager, Raquel Conchas, was with the team in spirit as she was in the community providing client support.


This year’s recovery event featured over 40 CBOs and public agencies supporting the San Francisco reentry community. 

2023 SUMMER RECAP

Site F Hosts Events That Inspire

Felton’s Site F in San Francisco at Pier 94 hosted collaborative and engaging events this summer. Two prominent Bay Area artists sat down with Felton President and CEO Al Gilbert to talk about art, music, and mental health awareness.


Singer-songwriter, GRAMMY® certified producer, and award-winning filmmaker Dame Drummer spoke about his documentary ‘Black Daddy: The Movie’ about Black men experiencing fatherhood in America. Also in conversation was San Francisco native rapper Gunna Goes Global, who joined Mr. Gilbert in a conversation about mental health and suicide awareness.


In addition to the lively discussions, Bay Area barber and owner of LUXGROOM, Notch Taplett, gave residents at Site F haircuts and grooming services, giving them a new look that boosted their confidence and self-esteem. Delicious pastries were provided by Gregory’s Gourmet Desserts
