Gift Shop Volunteer

Ronna Voorsanger Retiring

WRS thanks Ronna Voorsanger for her long standing service to the WRS Gift Shop. Ronna was a volunteer in the Gift Shop for over fourteen years and was in the role of buyer for eleven of those years. She also has the distinction of having served as President of the Women of Rodef Sholom for four years.

Ingrid Tolson assumed the role of WRS Gift Shop

Manager/Buyer in August of 2018. In her words of tribute, Ingrid shares that "Ronna created a Gift Shop space that encompassed all the symbols and components related to Judaism. She created a sanctuary where people could enjoy coming in just to look around, because it is comforting to be in a place that has exclusively Jewish items. They know they will find what they need to create a Jewish Home or conduct an event like a b’nai mitzvah or funeral. Ronna made every customer feel welcome and uninhibited to ask for help or for the meaning of Jewish objects. She sought out vendors and cultivated relationships with them to supply the shop with unique, high-quality Judaica. Many of those vendors are still being used today.

Ronna had a strong team that included Fanny Stein, Joanna Berland, and Claudia Belshaw. Their vision resulted in redesigning and renovating the Gift Shop to make it more inviting and efficient. They wanted a shop that had plenty of display area and storage without feeling overcrowded. This was all done on a limited budget in a short time to minimize lost business. The success of our Gift Shop supports the Women of Rodef Sholom's programs and charitable giving throughout the year."

Our gratitude to Ronna Voorsanger for her many years of distinguished service and for her high level of commitment to the Women of Rodef Sholom. Ronna is retiring from actively volunteering in the Gift Shop, and she will be greatly missed, but her legacy remains steadfast.

WRS is extremely grateful to Ronna for her many years of loyal service and wishes her well in her retirement.

Looking Back...

Rosie the Riveter

WWII Home Front National Historical Park

We enjoyed a hybrid program of the Rosie the Riveter

WWII Home Front National Historical Park with an outing to the park followed by lunch and a virtual program of a video and a lively discussion about the many social justice themes in the film, including women in the work world, the Double Victory campaign to fight fascism in Europe and racism in the US, the introduction of employee benefits, and the mass migration of people to the San Francisco Bay area to work in the shipyards.

If you weren't able to join us, look into these resources.
