Assistance League of St. Louis
Elects Denise McKibben President - 2023-2024
Creating Connections and
Building Bridges Together
When Denise joined Assistance League in 2019, she graciously and somewhat bravely, accepted the role of our Outreach program co-chair during the challenging year of the Covid pandemic.

During that year, Denise and Co-Chair Terri Spink managed 40 Outreach volunteers, who worked over 2,500 hours and assisted 4,064 individuals.
Denise describes her problem solving skills, "I immediately look at what our options are. I do not give up. I am very pragmatic and linear in my approach to problem-solving."

With proven leadership skills, it's no surprise that Denise was elected President. Denise' goals for her presidency include developing a young professional group within the St. Louis chapter, and continuing to build and expand our connections with other non-profits in our community.

We look forward to an exciting and productive year as we continue to make a positive impact on the lives of families in the St. Louis community.

She spoke about her journey to become an author at age 50, and the importance of studying math and science/STEM classes. Her mission is to "encourage kids to pursue more math and science, especially brown and black girls. Her books are aimed at children ages 8-11.

ALSTL Taken by Pleasant Surprise — Presented award by St. Louis Public Schools!
When President Denise McKibben, along with volunteers Sandy Brody, Jane Fetick and Mary Cullmann, attended the St. Louis Public Schools Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, they were in for a big surprise.

In addition to thank you for a job well done, Assistance League was one of the volunteer organizations that received a beautiful plaque for the work Operation School Bell did during the 2022-23 school year.

Several of the Family Community Specialists nominated Assistance League for having made a positive difference in the educational experience of the students and staff.

Congratulations to Operation School Bell and all the volunteers whose hard work was instrumental in achieving this award!
Assistance League and Community Partners Work Together to Make an Impact
ALSTL Receives Exemplary Donation of 1,000 Shoes!
When the New Balance Distribution Center relocated from Earth City to Tennessee, our industrious volunteers stepped up to work with New Balance on a philanthropic distribution. As a result of their diligent efforts, we received 1,000 pairs of new athletic shoes in various sizes. Students, as well as others in need, will be a step ahead when Assistance League distributes these shoes in our community.
Assistance League Partners with Urban League Head Start to Distribute Children's Factory Donation
When Children's Factory contacted Assistance League about donating playground equipment and preschool furnishings, our volunteers knew the perfect recipient- our partner Urban League, which operates 15 preschools. This magnanimous donation includes playground equipment, building blocks and other preschool furnishings. Several Urban League preschools, as well as two St. Louis Public School preschools will receive donations.
